Tamoxifen kilos

Hi Robsue,

I only had 2 nodes removed and a lumpectomy and radiation which finished in July 2010. I had a lot of pain after that, particulaly early this year. Things that have helped: the Encore Program which I did in November and then a 'PInk Pilates' program which the breast care nurse told me about. Individual treatment from a phsysiotherapist trained also in pilates, I had 5 sessions which were partly paid for by medicare. Your GP does a care plan for you first. The physio massaged the whole area and it has helped so much to relieve the pains, especially down my arm which have almost gone.

It all takes ages to heal and it's hard to be patient and not to panic! A breast care nurse will be able to find some help for you.

hi and welcome to the club nobody wants to be part of, but glad its here. i had a bit of pain in my breast and i finished treatment Jan09. my surgeon told me it would take a couple of years for the breast and surrounding areas to settle down,and yes even now i do get twinges, even in my good breast, but like the other say, anything that bothers you sont be afraid to ask the docs, also onhere there are no silly questions, there is plenty of ladies on here who are going through or been through the journey, and we are all here to help each other, as i am sure once you find your way around will be doing the same. Did you mean that you had a lumpectomy and full node clearance?I had that 7yrs ago.I think the pain settled down after a few months.I had numbness under the arm and still have.For a long time after I would get an ache in my arm so would do lymphatic massage on it.That is a good thing to learn to do for your arm.I had a mastectomy last year (may)and I still have discomfort across my chest like there is sticky tape on it.My surgeon says it's adhesions.You might find gentle massage helps or swimming.But if it is still so painful you should tell your surgeon.

hello all lm new to this , would like to know how long before the pain goes away for particle right breast and node 16 of them somedays it drives me nuts the pain , its a continual  dull pain or every now and then a sharp pain in arm and armpit l had  the oop in august 2010 and have had chemo 6 rounds finished xmas 2010 now on tamoxifin for 5 years will have radation end of this month ,   l do hope this is were l can post questions sorry if its the wrong place could someone help please

I put on weight with Tamoxifen - steady weight gain though.  I had no trouble with this drug at all. (Was on it for 4 years) The only thing it did give me some "break through bleeding" which had to be investigated each time.  There is a risk of getting uterine cancer whilst you are on this drug (sorry to be the deliverer of bad news) but if you have a good gyne to keep an eye on you it is okay.  I am now on Arimidex - boy is that a different story.  I am cooking from the inside out and feel like I have creepy crawlies in my hair.   I have also put on weight - much more quickly since starting on 20-12-10.  It is a real nuisance - makes us work harder to keep it off.  It is not good to put on weight when you have bc but unfortunately it is one of the risks with some of the treatment.  So many ladies that I know have put on heaps.  My friend who is doing it tough with her diagnosis (secondary bc in the heart) keeps telling me not to lose weight as chemo makes you lose heaps.  So it is interesting what you say Chrissy.  I try and watch my food intake but sometimes I "reward" myself cause I have bc and think why bl......y not.  Seriously though I do try hard to maintain my weight, fitness etc.  It has been proven that exercise does help with bc.  I know sometimes it is hard to be motivated when you feel crook.  Take care girls XLeonie
