Support Group in Brissie

I have asked this before, but was not really ready at the time I guess, but now I am REALLY ready and needing the support of others going through this journey/post treatment journey. Treatment is all finished and I guess I have hit the 'now what' phase. Thank you so much.

  • Hi Ladies

I know of a support group in Brisbane that catch up on a casual basis. I believe that the next meeting will be early February. We have all been through this ordeal and most of the RYC ladies have either been thru reconstruction or are contemplating recon and want as much information as possible. They also have a phone contact support system where they can put you in touch with someone who has the most appropriate similar story if that's your preference.

    I hope this helps xx

  • Hi ladies,

2 that I know of are the Strathpine Coffee and Chat Club and Brisbane River Dragons Abreast.

There used to be a group directory on this site but I couldn't find it when I went looking today. Hopefully Ann-Marie reads this and may be able to point you in the right direction.

Enjoy your coffee catch up,  Jen

  • Good idea, I tried to find out from various sources before without success.

We may try to get together once for coffee or lunch somewhere that suits everyone.  I live in Ashgrove.

    Cheers

I live in Balmoral, which is near the south entrance to the Gateway Bridge. Coffee sounds great. Dianne.

  • What suburb does everyone live in? I live in Underwood:) Maybe we could get one up and running or just get together even for coffee:)

  • Hi Ladies,

i live on Gold Coast and got a lot of help through the Cancer Council. They gave me a list of support groups on the GC, I'm sure they will have a list of Briz groups too. You can phone them on 131120. We all need support, good luck, Tracey

  • Maybe we could start one. There are a few people in Brisbane I can see from your comments.  Dianne.

  • Me too, I've been looking for a face to face support group in Brisbane for the last 2 years. The Wesley doesn't do that, just exercise classes and yoga etc ..... I found them to be unhelpful . Never had a breast care nurse  or even phone call support. They only support I had was myself

  • I am looking for a face to face support group in Brisbane too. Have just joined site but still trying to navigate my way around.
