As a member of the Cancer Support Sisters on the Gold Coast I am wondering if there any people on here who have been diagnosed with cancer and not had contact from the group. we have meetings once a month in Southport and have a speaker usually with fantastic results for us all. Last two months we've had a qualified medical beautician who tattoos people who have had breast cancer, another woman who we funded to do lymphatic drainage massages and in between meetings we have coffee catch ups where we just chat and laugh over coffee. We have fabulous functions during the year and the whole group are focused on love, joy and great help to one another. Over the past eighteen months I have come to thank my cancer for bringing me to this wonderful group of people and I have made some very lovely friendships through here as well. we are all like minded - we can have a whinge, a celebration, a cry and everything in between. Once ever two months one of our sponsors Chrissy brings in her volunteers to give us a PAMPER DAY. We are given massages, hair cuts, do's, makeovers, manicure, pedicure, beauty treatments, relaxation classes, and it creates a feeling of one-ness among us. Chrissy gives back in this way as she lost her mother, grandmother, aunts, and a sister to breast cancer so fully understands what we go through and this her way of rewarding us in memory of her family. If you would like to know more about the Cancer Support sisters on the Gold Coast you can message me on here. We can arrange transport if necessary for meetings and an often help with other things like where to get lymphodema sleeves, physio, bras etc. etc. PLeASE feel free to contact me, as I was reluctant to contact the group initially, but wow! it was the best thing I ever did. I can say now that WE are a fantastic bunch of people and we love hoping others newly diagnosed in particular through the maze that is the journey of breast cancer. <3 <3 <351Views0likes2CommentsSecond instalment from my first post last week

I dont feel so alone anymore have had the help of some lovely Ladies from a support group that I joined as well as on here. Found out last week then now preparing myself for my mastectomy in two days. Not to sure how i'm feeling or really what to expect. Kinda happy that it has come around really quickly so dont have to much time to really think about it but also secretly scared. What does one expect?1View0likes10CommentsSupport group lunches coming up!

Hi lovely ladies, If you are interested in anything to do with reclaiming your curves (aka "breast reconstruction"), and you live within reach of Sydney, we'd love to see you at our support group lunch this Sunday, 20th March at 12 midday. We dine out at the Dragonfly Cafe within Eden Gardens, Lane Cove Rd, Macquarie Park. This will be our 2nd meeting for the year - it was lovely to meet many of you at our January lunch. We are all at various stages of reconstruction - some have finished, some are part way through, and others are just beginning to explore the idea. Whatever stage you're at, you are very welcome. You will need to RSVP as the cafe is very busy on Sundays and we are required to pre-book our table. Please let me know if you'd like to come by emailing me at alison@reclaimyourcurves.org.au or mobile 0401 443 541. If you can't make this one, we meet bi-monthly and you'll find future dates on the BCNA website in Support Groups. Can't wait to meet you! The first meeting of 2016 was held last night at the Cancer Council Centre in Howick Street and the room was filled with old and new faces. Conversations ranged across all breast cancer topics, and those who attended received support and information. Phone numbers were exchanged and coffee dates set up. The younger ladies (aged from 26 to mid 40's) were a great support to each other- especially the new girls. On-line is a great tool but you can never beat face to face quality time with wonderful women who know and care!1View0likes1CommentLet's do lunch!

I have asked this before, but was not really ready at the time I guess, but now I am REALLY ready and needing the support of others going through this journey/post treatment journey. Treatment is all finished and I guess I have hit the 'now what' phase. Thank you so much.1View0likes29CommentsSo many stories
For the past week I have been deleting nearly 2,500 messages dating back to 2012 when I was first diagnosed. It brought back so many stories of pink friends - those who comforted and supported me, and those who I comforted and supported later on. Having this site was such a lifeline. It still is, for hundreds of us - thousands probably. It would have been so much harder to cope without it. Thank you Lynne for starting BCNA. I don't know where some of the wonderful women are now - some haven't posted in a long while and I hope they are doing well and living their lives to the full. For those still having treatment - you are all warriors and all the love and support is coming your way. For newbies - you will never find a better place to come for understanding and support. I don't need the Messages to remember you all. I won't forget any of you. Much love to you all. xxx Michelle1View0likes3Comments
