Sore breasts post treatments (lumpectomy)

so sorry to hear about your on going troubles 
I had rib pain too Just under the breast that was operated on
I was also getting an occasional deep  Spasm on that side but all has settled down since doing yoga

I’m 11 months post lumpectomy and 9 months post radiotherapy and my breast aches along scar line - Approx 14cm- every day- on the left side where mandarin sized lump taken out, sometimes stabbing sometimes dull ache- cold pack work, massage  or Panadol . I’ve had 6 months oncology check up but since then have also had rib pain where I have my permanent tan ... I’m popping in to gp this Friday.

I was lucky my GP’s nurse was so proactive. And I wouldn’t have known anything about all the help you can get without the BCNA webcasts and this online network! I wonder if the nurse arranged signing for me? There are several doctors at the surgery. I believe McGrath or BCNA nurses can help you if you need someone to support you. I’ve not seen a breast care nurse. At one point during radiotherapy I got upset and the nurse suggested I check out a Psychooncologist. I did. Best idea !
it does feel very lonely at times, particularly once “active treatment” is over. I did feel abandoned. But I am feeling more positive now I’m doing exercise and am getting on with my life. 

I asked for a care plan from my GP, booked a long appointment because it takes them a while to do.  I’ve had a few over the years. She didn’t mention anything about 2 doctors signing off on it.

@2MC I found that I needed to find some things out myself, and rang the breast care nurse when I wanted to find out when I was seeing my oncologist and radiation oncologist after my surgery last year, as I wasn’t really told much and Covid was just starting to rear it’s ugly head. I’m on Anastrozole so am under the oncologists care for probably 5 years.

I haven’t seen oncologist since my pathology results came back all clear in July of last year (2020)
he said that my results were all good and I no longer needed to see him

I have had appointments every 3 months with breast surgeon since diagnosis in January 2020
one year after diagnosis (February) I had a mammogram and since it came back clear
My appointment went to 6 months

I haven’t heard from or have seen breast care nurse in ages and none of these things were offered to me   🤷‍♀️

@2MC I presume you are under an oncologist as well? I had my 1st year mammogram in February as well and saw the oncologist soon after then 3 months later supposed to see breast surgeon then oncologist in another 3 months. I’m public as well and have felt as if I didn’t know whether I was being looked after. But the surgeon put me straight as to time frame of it all.  Maybe you need to get in touch with your breast care nurse for some guidance on getting the doctors to sign for your physio. I’ve been referred to an exercise physiologist, counselling and a dietitian through a cancer rehab program through the hospital. Cost so far has been $10- each time, except for phone consultations.

Im starting to feel let down
I don’t know if it’s because I’m public hospital patient but my breast care nurse barely gave me any on going care or info 
I found out about bounce back fitness and health from the cancer council but when I tried to get my 5 sessions my GP said I needed 2 doctors to sign off on it and one of them couldn’t be him 
he sent it to my breast surgeon and it didn’t get signed and I don’t see him again until August
because apparently after my first post treatments and surgery mammogram I’m now only seeing him every 6 months

so I feel like I’m on my own 🥺

Hi @2MC, I had chemo last year to shrink the tumour, lumpectomy 7/1/21 and finished 3 weeks radiotherapy mid March. My breast is still tender (ouch, firm hugs really hurt!), lumpy and nipple strangely crusty. I saw the rad oncologist and he said all normal post-radiotherapy damage - which may continue 6 months, plus scarring from surgery. He recommended: keep moisturizing and gentle massaging of breast, get out into the fresh air and exercise. I have now seen an exercise physiologist recommended by my GP’s nurse as part of my health care plan. As you’ve had cancer, you’re  entitled to five very discounted appointments per year with podiatrist/exercise physio/OT etc.
