Short of breath

hi

just have a short question I was stopped the other day for a random breathalyser and I couldn't do it I tried but ran out of breath before he said stop I tried twice more and I ran out of breath each time b4 he said stop and by the look on his face he must of thought that I was doing it on purpose ... I was going to say that I have had radiation treatment for cancer but he said try once more and if you can't do it I'll have to ask you to come down to the station with me .... And I didn't get the chance plus I thought how could I prove what I said.. Anyway my question is does radiation affect your lungs and how long does it last for oh and I finally managed to just get it the last time...JUST!! lol and I passed of course lol. Thanks Kate

  • Do not be affraid to tell the police about the treatment - they may wonder if true or not but pretty sure they will.give you a benefit of a doubt.and take it easy on you and gine you more time... Once I bkew a positive even tbough I was not drinking at all and then rememnered I had been sucking 2 strepsils.for an hour up.to immediately until pulled over and they allowed me.to stay on thenside of the road another 15 - 20 min and then blow again... Offcourse by then all was fine (lolly residie was gone) and it was back to 0... Yes the guy did not just let.me.off - he made me stick arround but they not ask for proof or such. Nust acceoted my word I was dealing with a medical.cndition induced false read.

And I am about to start radiation in 1 week yes, I have been told to be aware that my lungs may be affected and even that I can get an i flammation.

In your place I would have a chat with the GP and you want to make sure that there isnnothing more serious or sinister that is causing this innability to breathe into a breathiliser long enough. Make sure you rule.out inflamation and blood clots just in case...

    Hugs

  • I was given an emergency card to hand to the ER dept should I ever have troubles and side effects for treatment. I was also told to tell dentists etc I am in Cytotoxic treatment. I imagine being up front and telling police would follow too.

  • I have had breathlessness from chemo and radiation.  My oncologist says it is from tiredness.  It's annoying.  I still get breathless from a shower and walking up stairs and a moderate walking.  Lucky you managed to do your test!  Karen

  • I had a similar thing but he suggested to get out of the car and stand up and it should be better and it was!

We have been weakened and it takes time to recoup especially when fatigue is part of the daily routine

    Take care
