Seroma
hi, has anyone had a seroma before? If so, what did it feel like? Mine is between my lumpectomy scar and armpit scar. Also have a little cording, have been doing exercises for it.

- KazmarMemberThanks @KarenneW and @LucyE.
I have been seeing a Physio and my cording has mostly gone now.
I am also going to my exercise classes and doing light weights and am back to horse riding.
Thanks for your advice.
Cheers,
Karen x - AnonymousNot applicableI had cording and the lymphodema physio worked on my arm and massaged it until it made a popping sound. I had a seroma under my armpit which I had to have drained and it delayed chemo by 8 weeks. My surgeon eventually cut it out and it's fine now. I also had a seroma on my back after LD reconstruction. I think some people are more prone to them. All the best. x
- KarenneWMemberYes Kazmer push thru as the more you use your arm the better it will be. Following my Mx I could only get my arm to about 75 degrees but with exercise and the help of my trainer at the gym I'm now 100 degrees and can lift 55kg in a deadlift and bench press 30kg. My surgeon said if I was OK doing exercise he was OK with me undertaking it. I'm a firm believer in exercise now.
- KazmarMemberThanks @KarenneW.
I have been trying that but as it is the exercise that hurts the most, l have probably been a bit slack.
I will try to push through the pain a bit more often. - KarenneWMemberGirls for the cording and getting movement back try doing Wall Walks, no not walking up the wall, but stand facing the wall and walk your fingers up the wall and back down then stand side onto wall and same procedure. It really helps.
- kezmuscMemberHI. I too had a rather large seroma that pretty much took up the whole breast, hard as a rock and huge. That breast looked better than the other one. Haha ha. Lasted about 10 months (I think the radiation nuked the last of it LOL). My surgical team recommended not to drain it as they pretty much always recollect, get infected and if you can put up with the discomfort and let it reabsorb on its own it has a better cosmetic outcome than constant draining. The cording goes away with exercise. Mine took about 2months to get back to prety much normal. So I have finished all my treatments two weeks ago 10 months from whoa to go. Radiation burns are gone, seroma is all but gone, just a small bit right near the scar but that might be just hard scar tissue, and mild numbness just along the scar under my arm which is getting better all the time. I am pretty much looking and feeling the same as before this crap began. Except for the hot flushes YUK. Thank you chemo. All the best.
xoxoxo - KazmarMemberHi @MelissaD , I have just had my seroma under my arm drained for the second time, 60mls the first time and not so much 2 days ago, l forgot to ask how much they got. I have also got cording, very painful. I have been massaging it myself a bit, l heard a little pop when l was massaging a spot that was stretched on the inside of my elbow, weird but apparently that is what happens when you get a release, l still have cording but it doesn't seem as bad. I am seeing a Physio today so hopefully that will help it improve even more.
The seroma is a bugger, l still feel a little swollen under my arm but not too bad.
Good luck,

- KarenneWMemberOMG. No wonder you were uncomfortable.
