Ringing the bell!

As you know yesterday was my last radiotherapy treatment.......It was also my 50th birthday!.....the rad girls sang happy birthday and there were hugs and tears.....they gave me a little cactus plant to remember them by and I gave them chocolates! The staff at the centre are amazing! they made my treatment that bit more bearable....they were always cheery, always smiling and sometimes singing!
I can't believe I made it! There were times I thought i would never finish, but here i am DONE.......Well i still have to have implant transfer next year.....but i am done with treatment! Hubby came with me to video me ringing that bell! Woohoo! now time to recover from this year and everything that has happend to me! What a day......What a year!

My unit doesn't have a bell. So I have bought them one...just need to get a plaque done with the  poem. After all the endurance of treatment I don't think you can underestimate the importance of ringing that end of treatment bell. My last chemo was such an anticlimax, I baked a cake...and they just cut it up out the back...I'd planned to cut it myself as the celebration . ..but I guess unless you've  been through it...you just can't appreciate it. Even though I'm still on herceptin...the completion of each part is significant. Well done you . ..you're an inspiration...and such an incredible birthday present.
What a beautiful gesture Kath!  But I guess I wouldn't have expected anyhting less from you!....My unit only just got them a few months ago, so like you chemo finished without much fuss, that's wahy I was so determined to ring that bell after rads.....It's like shouting to the heavens when you ring that bell! <3 Your kind donation will help others (and yourself) release that sigh of relief for all the world to hear for many years to come.....what a beautiful person you are Xx

  • So so happy for you.  I remember breaking down in tears on the last day of radiation when I got to put my thumb print on the tree of thumb prints they had on their wall.  Like you sigh a massive exhale at the end of active treatment.  It is sooooo good to be done with it.  May you celebrate many more years with your family and loved ones. Hugs x
  • Yeahhhh!!!! Congrats to you and wishing you a very Happy 50th Birthday.....
