Results

So today was the day i received my results, they were not what we wanted but hey i still have to think myself lucky. It was not 2 lumps i had it was 1 lump like the shape of a dumbell 3cm x 2.5cm in size. It came back as a High grade 3 ductal cancer, because of its size and grade i will now require Chemo & Radio. I am lucky though i got the all clear from the negative results from my lymph nodes.

I am having a meeting with the chemo dr and the radio dr next week.

  • Hi Elisha,

Ugh, I was exactly where you are now but it was 2 weeks ago.  And I had exactly the same thoughts.  I'm still considering having a mastectomy on my left breast, depending on the discussions I have over the coming months.

My margins weren't clear after my lumpectomy, hence the mastectomy.  It's now 10 days post surgery and I'm back up and positive.  The 2nd general in 2 weeks knocked me around a bit but I've since got my results and I am very, very thankful that I've had it.  I don't have to worry about recurrences in my right breast and I can sleep at night by not having to worry.  You're going to be just fine Elisha ... just take it 1 day at a time.  It's ok to break down and cry, and it's ok to be really happy too.  What I've learnt throughout this whole rollercoaster ride is that it's ok to feel whatever comes naturally.  I spent all of Friday feeling miserable, and then had a great day yesterday.  Maybe just try tackling 1 thing at a time ... focus on getting through your surgery first.  Then think about the next step.

Please feel free to call me or email or whatever.  I'm really thinking of you.

  • Hi Elisha

Well that sux!!!  I am not sure what is worse, hearing the words that you have cancer or the words that you will require chemo.  Having said that, chemo is not easy, but it has come along way in recent years, with some great meds to combat the nausea etc.  So it is very doable.  I had visions that I would spend the next 6 months in bed sick, yes I did have a few really crap days, but generally I did most things as before.  My children were 2 and 4 at the time so I still took them to school most days, went shopping for groceries, went to the park, movies and out to dinner.  I had my chemo once every three weeks and I had two days out of the first week that I just layed around but the rest of the time I was OK. (wasnt ready to run a marathon but I did OK).

Hope this helps, I wrote you a post on the bald one too.
