- NefertariMemberReally appreciate the tip, JeanMargaret.
I have not experienced the ulcers yet but it is only Day 5 after my first cycle.
The side effects keep changing on me, some have been there since the beginning but yesterday came the hot hands / feet with red blotches for the first time and that is why I'm up waiting for my cold pack to freeze ;) hoping to get a few more zzzzz"s in before I get up officially on Christmas Day.
I don't know what I would have done without this forum, you lovely ladies are an inspiration. - Anne94MemberHi @JeanMargaret,
Just wanted to know if you are still on this regime? My oncologist is probably going to put me on Afinitor and Aromosin after Christmas. Going to have more scans, and then review. Currently on Anastrazole. But I'm having progression, have 2 new bone mets appear after the last bone scan.
Anyway, interested in how you are doing?
Cheers
Anne - viking1MemberThat is excellent news! I am only on my first round of chemo (end of week 2) and started getting the red spots on the back of the throat, dry mouth and furry feeling in cheeks. I have managed to halt it completely, except a dry mouth a times, by brushing with a soft toothbrush after every meal, gently...using a toothbrush that is double sided and does your cheeks a bit. Then I gargle and rinse my mouth with one drop of a top brand essential oil...I won't mention the name in case I can't. PM me if you want to know lol. I can say that it contains wild orange peel, clove bud, cinnamon leaf, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus leaf, rosemary leaf/flower essential oils. I wonder if the clove has a lot to do with it's success so far? Of course I am only a 'beginner' so if this regime stops working down the track I will go for what you suggest! Many thanks xx
- JeanMargaretMemberAnd why does the bloody thing go straight to,post although I haven't finished. Anyway, I tried all the usual over the counter treatments but at times still had problems swallowing water. Also tried all the strategies about small and frequent meals etc. My onc had prescribed a dexamethasone mouthwash (no effect), then a 1%cocaine mouthwash (finding a compounding chemist in Ballarat was another story) but that gave me a numb tongue and a splitting headache. I lost 3kg in the last 2 weeks so when a local pharmacist recommended a product that had just come back on the market, why not. I don't know if we're allowed to recommend product brands but here goes. Gelclair is a gelatinous mouthwash, tasteless and non stinging. And it works for me. I start the day with one rinse as that enables me to swallow my pills and have a couple more during the day. The only downside is that it costs nearly $80.00 for 21 sachets or 7 days treatment, so it's not affordable for everybody. Hope this helps somebody out there. Cheers, Jeannie
