Ovarian cyst

I'm nearly 2 years post op/rads. I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago but now I've developed a 10cm ovarian cyst.
The breast clinic don't want to deal with it and have shunted me off to gynie.
After 4 months hassling Gynie, they finally gave me an initial appointment - Feb 2020!!

I can't get any decent information out of Dr Google. Even the ovarian cancer website fails to mention associated breast cancer.
Has anyone else experienced ovarian cysts linked to their cancer and can you point me in the direction of some decent research.
  • @Jax1964 I once had a nasty sessile polyp they weren’t going to remove until I came up on the waiting list nine months later. I chose to see a surgeon privately to get his opinion and just paid the excess on the consultation with him. It is worth it for peace of mind.
  • Sorry that this is happening, @Jax1964.
I had some post menopausal bleeding, and in the workup for that it was discovered that I had a "slightly complex" 2cm ovarian cyst. At that point I was around 2 years post treatment. I was in the position of being able to afford to see a private gynae, and we went with a watch and wait approach to start with. I did end up having surgery and removing tubes and ovaries, and the cyst was benign.

Is there an alternate public hospital that you could have a referral sent to? 10cm seems like a very big cyst to be left until next year for an initial appointment.
Alternatively,  could you perhaps contact some local gynae's rooms and see if they would see you as a public patient?

    Take care

GP and I have been butting heads with the hospital for 4 months
  • I am assuming you've had a scan. A scan will show if its a solid mass or a fluid cyst. Yes a gynae is the appropriate referral. If there was any concerns it would be an urgent review. Certainly some genetic bc have higher risks but not all do.
  • Can't help with correlation but just wanted to say I hope your waiting time is reduced as that in itself is hard

  • If you google Lynch syndrome and breast cancer, you should have enough evidence to frighten the hospital to send you quickly to genetics and/or gynae. I am not suggesting you have this problem, only that you need something to shake up the powers that be.
