One week till surgery.

Today  marks one week till my surgery. Rang the hospital to confirm my admission, all good. I think I have now gone from being scared to being at peace with the situation, then the reality sets in and I am either scared or totally stressed out. I just want this to be over.

  • Thanks Jo, my surgery is actually this Tuesday. I am very grateful for the support I have received online, Its nice to now that not only that I am not alone, but what I am feeling is pretty much normal.  If anything positive is to come out of this situation, It will that I will become a better person and appreciate life a lot more.

  • Hope everything went well with your op, You are so normal with your feelings the way you have explained it and you have every right to feel that way.  I have just come through surgery and received my final results on Thursday and up until then i was exactly the same as you were and  probably most others here on this site.

As Leanne said above "Our situations are all different but we all share the common bond which none of us chose,  but are grateful to be able to share our collective strength. (how true is that, what a beautiful thought.).   Good luck with your results and remember things will only get better from there on.

    cheers JO XXX

  • Hi - as Cheryl says, the waiting is the worst part.

So many things go through your head - some good, lots bad, but until you are in the situation, you cannot really imagine what its like and how you will cope.

Somehow we do manage to get through, each in our own way!  We really have no choice but to deal with whatever we have to and the sun does come up each day no matter what happens (sometimes it is covered by light fluffy happy clouds and others by dark black angry clouds -  but the sun is always there!).

Please use this forum to gather whatever strength you need, we are all here to laugh with you, cry with you and basically wrap our vitual arms around you and give you a hug when you need it.  Vent your anger, sadness and happiness without shame or guilt.  Remember that each member has 2 ears so there are twice as many ears in this forum and they will listen happily :-)

Our situations are all different but we all share the common bond which none of us chose, but are grateful to be able to share our collective strength.

    Best wishes for next week.

    Leanne

  • Dear Hopeful,

the waiting is the hardest part, you get to despise it more than the cancer but you will gain strength over the next period in your life you didn't know you had.

The scared and stressed out person was me just 2 1/2 months ago, when the ball starts rolling with surgery and treatments you will gain confidence in yourself to deal with your  situation, there will always be doubts, anger, confusion, stress and sadness but you will learn how to best deal with these situations and get to know yourself a whole lot more, I hope it all goes well for you ,

    Regards, Cheryl
