I was right. The chemo that I'm having is a mop up job only hence my nickname "Roundup". It's just getting any weeds out of my garden of pretty cells. I will be having FEC 3 rounds at 3 weekly intervals followed by Docataxol 3 rounds at 3 weekly intervals. 1 injection of Nulastin 2 days after each round. Then that's it! No drugs, no radiation. yay! I'm having a port put in either tomorrow or Friday and my first round is next Wednesday. Done blood this morning, doing heart this afternoon. Cas

My favourite is one a naturopath gave me years ago. Carrot, apple beetroot and ginger. I use about 2 apples, one baby beetroot and the leaves and stalks. 4-6 carrots and a bit of ginger. If you have a cold pressed juicer you can store in the fridge as enzymes not destroyed. If it's centrifugal you need to drink straight away so just make less more often. I am also into green juices now. My fav is 2 green apples 2 continental cucumbers 2 or 3 stalks of kale Either baby spinach leaves or baby cos lettuce just a bunch A bit of ginger This makes heaps so adjust amounts if you want less. If you are not used to ginger and beetroot just use tiny bits to start with. I love my green juice, but not for everyone. You can put whatever you like in. I did have a book called raw juice can save your life, but it had lots of fruit in the juices which are lovely but I think the vege juices better for you. Good luck Paula xx

I just got a new cold pressed juicer as I wore my old centrifugal on out. I think my juicing really helped get my blood counts back to normal after struggling with them for a while. Cold pressed are a bit more expensive but much better quality juice. Hang in ther Cas. Paula xxx

I think mine is due to the bandage that is over it. My skin hates that hospital's dressings. This happened with my mastectomy as well. As soon as the dressing came off it calmed down. I'm not looking forward to the nurse pulling the dressing off. Hate that. It usually hurts more than the operation under it. Hey! I have delicate skin :) Brain is tough, wrapping not so much. :P

Juice is great. I might look into something like that for Christmas.

I can't sleep on that side nor can I sleep flat (again). I'm sure it will be fine in a few days, I'm probably doing far more than I should be.

I just dragged out the diary I kept during my chemo. The only mention of my port was that it was initially uncomfortable to sleep on that side. I also,had a red reaction around it that may have been to do with whatever they cleaned my skin with? I didn't mention pain, and don't remember any. Really hope yours settles down. What a lovely son you have. I am about to teach my 12 year old to use my juicer so he can make me healthy juices after my surgery. Sending you another huge hug. Paula :)

Yes our boys are wonderful. I'm teaching my son to cook too. He's 23. It will be good for them to learn. My daughter (25) and husband cook sometimes too. So I don't think I'll ever go back to it. Haha. I hope your port settles down soon Cas and you can get on with things. I've gone all the way through since Frebruary without a port but am still having Herceptin three weekly until the end of May. The last one I had, the nurse had three goes to get the cannula into a vein. She said my veins are becoming hard to find and I might need to think about a port. I'm 'willing' my veins to keep working as, at this late stage, I don't want another procedure. Actually, I wonder how being on blood thinners will effect that? Anyway, enjoy the roast chicken and veggies, sounds yummy. Love Janey xxx

I am sorry that you are so sore from having the port and that you are feeling uptight about what you haven't read for uni yet. Big hugs from me too. Glad you have such a wonderful son. What a blessing he is to you. xx

He is a good kid, 20yo, doesn't smoke, drink, do drugs, or hang out with bad people. I could have done worse.

I think I'm just feeling battered and bruised (again) and people from uni are asking me if I've read this and that and of course I haven't because I've been asleep for the best part of 2 days so I get uptight about getting behind (which will never happen).
