Little things, big things

Welcome, adean, to the group :-)

Everyone, what is a small change that would significantly improve your experience of the online network? For example, maybe it's something like making tags optional rather than required.

  • Hi Cosette

Where can I find on the site a recent comment I've made to a post that was originally put up in August - it is a subject matter that is close to my heart but I can't see it in My Feed - can you direct me please?

    Ta!

  • Hi Cosette and Ann-Marie,

Thanks again for the opportunity to give feedback.  As you brought up the topic of tags I have a question with regards to our tags in the BROG.  As facilitators we have the ability to re-tag posts.  This is a huge part of the admin job.  We try to keep the list of "all topics" as short as we can and group posts together so that when a member is looking for specific information it can be found all grouped together in one tag for eg reconstruction implants.  There used to be a number appearing after a tag letting you know how any posts were in that tag.  Our list of tags is growing every day and sometimes it is just a simple thing like a misspelt word and then we have yet another tag.  It would be great that any tags we have removed or re-tagged to a more suitable tag could be removed from the list I don't know if this is a really hard thing to do or not.  I would be prepared to make a list of unused tags if that is all that would be required?  But I suspect it may be harder than that.  I think in the old network (there I go referring to the olden days again), these tags with no attached posts would just drop off.  In regards to this I think your suggestion of tags being optional is a really great one.

    Thanks again.

    Paula :)

  • Hi Cosette

sounds silly but I would really like a like button. Sometimes I see posts or comments that I really like but don't actually have anything to say about them.

  • Hi there, previously you used to get an email if you responded to a blog now you have to check your messages, when you type in the search box what you are looking for does not always come up eve though it exists. I cannot get into anything on my profile if I use my ipad this is frustrating as I have to get out the laptop.  so therefore  cannot access my messages if I want to take my ipad away. My support group has told me not one of them uses BCNA website since the change they just find it to hard which is sad even though Ive said have another go, all my messages now go to a facebook page they have set up.  adean

  • As a 'wish list item', A 'how to menu'..  simple things like how to go to your groups..   click user name, profile, groups then choose is an example of something you don't know until you have fiddled around and tripped over it.
A help menu if you like.  Many people who come into the network are at varying levels of computer skills and a help menu could lessen any issues that may arise. It can be daunting to learn a new system and I think this would be a great addition to the system.

mmm that may not be a thing but unfortunately turtles think big sometimes

  • Hi Cosette, mmmm tricky question..  But I have had feedback from members and I have experienced it often myself.

You create a post, finish it and press post, the pink circle of 'waiting' begins and does not stop.  If you press post again it either does nothing or comes up with a window saying 'something went wrong'.

When you then go out and come back in again and check it has indeed posted.  Not everyone thinks to check as it says it went wrong and then we end up with a double post.  This was before Christmas but today it happened to both of my posts that I have just added to the LWA/SBC.

If the source of this error could be located somewhere in the 'haystack' it would reduce the frustration of many members (a few have said they wont post again because of it :(  )

I have another post to do later, if I can get it to do it again (Look out, is Murphy anywhere here?) I will screenshot it for you

    Cheers, Sharon
