It’s booked
I finally agreed to seeing a psych for my pain trauma. I am booked in for my mental health plan next Monday and have already contacted the psych. I just booked in for my yearly mammogram check up for the good side and the thought of another biopsy, which hopefully isn’t necessary, set me off into pain trauma panic. Thought it best to get help before the possibility rather than after. I have also organised for my two yearly colonoscopy so more procedures to send me into a spin. Just as well mindfulness class is tomorrow!

- Well done @Blossom1961. I haven't got the date for mine yet. I will be similarly on edge. Last time I had a test for cancer it was positive, and now I know my risk for bowel cancer is higher than I was aware of before. Dread fills me. I tell myself to be sensible but that only works sometimes. This being a sensible grown up is exhausting!
Good luck for tomorrow Didi. K xox - Prep all done. Yay. Pity I am not allowed sleeping tablets. Then again, that probably wouldn’t be a good idea lol. I know you aren’t suppose to wish time away, but I so wish it was tomorrow afternoon and it was all over. Ridiculously on edge.
- The first one i had after many years i woke up and said 'have you done it yet?' and yes they had! It felt like no time at all. The next one wasn't so pleasant, different anaesthetist, didn't come out of it so well. One tiny polyp, all clear and yes they tell you on the day, plus i got pretty picture of inside my bowel...
- Thanks @JulieVT11 That's probably what I had then. As far as I was aware I was unconscious!
- @kmakm I had both endoscope and colonoscopy done about 12 months ago and apparently it is not a full anaesthetic but just a really deep sleep. I don't do really well normally but I woke up and was completely back to normal within an hour or so
- @Blossom1961 I was told about the semi-knockout as that's what my father had. However when I had my first one, nine years ago, they knocked me out completely. I was, of course, a long time in recovery because my BP took ages to come up.
Last time was private, this time it will be public. I'm interested to see what happens! - First time I used Picoprep, I got caught out - so next time, I didn't bother putting undies on - I just basically sat on the loo with a book, letting it all happen! LOL
Hubby was naughty with his last year - I saw him pouring some of the mixture down the sink - so his report noted 'inadequate preparation'!!
Yep, they tell you whilst you are in recovery followed up by the report to your GP. I'll never forget Hubby's back in 2010 - @kmakm The anaesthetic they use is one of those that doesn’t actually put you to sleep but you can’t remember anything afterwards. Not sure what it is called. Apparently I say all kinds of wacky things. Last time after I was lucid, the doctor asked me if my headache was gone. “What headache?” He laughed. That was the time I was giving cheek to the anaesthetist, apparently. Sounds about right.
