Is it to good to be true!

Hello Pink Lovelies
Yesterday my oncologist stopped my last round of AC cause of the impact on my heart...today I started my second part of chemo Docetaxel and I have to admit I feel fantastic...no nausea, is this cause I'm pumped with steroids? I know each person responds differently but side affects do you experience on Docetaxel?
With AC I lost most of my hair, partial Brazilian lol, hairs on my legs...did not loose eyebrows, eyelashes or under arm hair.
Thank you xx
  • Is it too good to be true yep for some it can be okay. I often met with the same ladies when I saw my oncologist. We actually became a happy little group. There were two ladies in particular whom were working and coping really well.
I said to my friend ummm how can this be. She and I were having a few difficulties. She looked at me and said ...Well I think they are younger than us oh  well they were by about 20years
Thats not to say side effects are related to age just everyones body reacts differently I am not totally convinced your mind has that much influence. So so far so good enjoy it while it lasts.
  • Well @Hendrix ..didn't want to scare you. I had terrible joint pain a few days after chemo for around 24 to 48 hours. Mine was weekly chemo for 12 weeks  so by around cycle 6 I was really fatigued,  had a very sensitive stomach, couldn't tolerate fruit or spices. Vegetables tasted bitter. I had loose bowels (big diff to the constipation). I developed neuropathy in my feet and had balance issues. I had  itchy skin and couldn't wear jewelry due to irritation or have a very hot showers. I had fluid issues/ oedema also. However...I got through it and most issues...bar some minor toe neuropathy resolved.  My comment to the oncologist wasn't that it was better just different. The weekly thing made me miserable as no break. But hey...it is but a distant memory for me now. I hope you fair better. My friend had only some toe issues and that was it and right at the end. Kath
  • Oh @TonyaM how horrible...A/C pretty much did that to me and hats off to the ladies or anyone that goes through a second round of chemo after the finish first round of treatment. Are you still having Docetaxel?
  • Lemon was my choice- everything tasted metallic/poison.I had bad headaches, muscle/bone pain, extreme fatigue and literally couldn't get out of bed for 3 days.It was like a Mack truck hit me. I improved gradually after that. I hope Docitaxel treats you better.xx
  • Thanks ladies @TonyaM roadkill? Lol what happen? I think I felt like road kill on A/C...actually what symptoms did everyone have on taxol...and what did you do to help with any side affects...on a/c for nausea I couldn't get enough of pineapple, dill cumcumbers, gratefruit, natural yogurt pretty much anything sour or tart lol
  • I didn't like Taxol, but mainly because I did not have initially many side effects from A/C. I hope it keeps well for you too, many people find it much easier. I had some immediate side effects (loss of tastebuds, bloody nose) and some that crept up (peripheral neuropathy and I still have feet problems). No nausea at all or fatigue. I stopped taking anti nausea medication altogether on Taxol, didn't need it and it made me constipated! Lost all my hair, everywhere, on A/C but it started growing back on Taxol which was a pleasant surprise.
  • Docetaxol did diabolical things to my intestines, but I cruised through AC. It is a complete mystery, we are all so different.

I think sometimes we are just sooo pleased when something that doesn't agree with us stops, we see  anything else as an improvement. Hope it keeps going well for you.

  • I initially felt much better on taxol. The side effects creep up, but nausea not one of them for me. Long may it last.
  • I felt like roadkill from day 3-6 on that chemo- hate to tell you
