I was pumped up for 1st Chemo, sorry delayed a week.
Hi Ladies,
Well it has been another eventful week for me, not short of excitement around here at the mo. :o)
Last Friday, we were all systems go for egg collection and the magical 6pak of eggs the Fertility Doc said that he was hoping to collect, turned into 4. Then only 2 were fertilised and then only 1 managed to split into cells and made it into the freezer! Sheesh, talk about hard work! BUT, we have one little tiny bundle of joy to focus on through the treatment, which is fantastic!
So, Tony and I are feeling good and Tuesday comes and off we go for my 1st Chemo...... Had to have another blood test, as the last one showed some liver infection or something and the Doc also says oh we'd better check that you aren't Preggers while we are at it.
We get the bloods done and then wait again for our turn to get called up for Chemo. At last, my name gets called and I am pumped up for the unknown. The Nurse is talking about how I may need a pennycath or something as my veins are quite hard to locate in my forarm. She is about to inject the pre chemo drugs (I mean she has the needle all lined up and I am waiting for the pin prick) the Doc runs in and says STOP!!! I look at Tony with horror and think oh no, what now, my liver is shot! The Doc turns to me and says "your Hormone Levels are high, could you be pregnant?" I say NO, I have just finished an ivf cycle, that would explain it. She says, well I need to confirm all this with your Fert Doc before we commence so Chemo will happen next Tues and in the mean time get some more bloods done to confirm hcg levels are decreasing, not going up.
So, we pack up our bag and head off home, after 5hrs of patiently waiting for my 1st Chemo to be over and done with. Urrgghhh!
I am happy now that I have another weeks grace though, so I did the unthinkable and dyed my hair bright red, as per Tonys' request a couple of months back but I chickened out at the last minute, he can't call me a whoos now. ahahahahaaa
I hope everyone is feeling ak with their treatments.
Take Care
