hospital

Good morning everyone yesterday I had to go into hospital for a arthroscope on my knee. All went well with surgery. I went back to the hospital that I had all my surgeries for my bc. I wasn't prepared my reaction I hobbled in and sat down to wait and the flood gates opened up. I sat there and thought how dumb is that. pulled myself together as my husband came in he told me not to worry. I know he means well but he dosen't know how it made me feel to be back there. We never know how some things will trigger our emotions.

As I have been home for a while with my knee I have been on the site and realise how much just chatting on here helps. I want to thank everyone that has supported me over the last couple of years, it has helped me as you have been there for the good and the bad.To all the newbies I hope I have helped in some way to make your trip a little bit better and make you feel not alone.. So now I will be making my husband run around after me again, he is so good but he keeps telling me I wait until he sits down, now I wouldn't do that would I. You bet I would ha ha love him he has been so good xx

  • Hey you,

You and I must have been channelling our inner knees... I also had an arthroscopy on Tuesday.  I know exactly how you feel as I also had my surgery at the same hospital as all my BC stuff.  It was just as I was in the anaesthetic bay that the tears arrived for me.

Thankyou for all the support you give to so many members on here.

Heres to better knees for us both.

  • Hi ladies thank you for your support, it does make me feel better to think I'm not the only one that feels this way. I think I'm starting to move forward and something else brings those feelings back. I suppose we all have to accept that bc will always be in our lives and our worries. Life is forever changing and we all need to find a way to accept what has happened. I wish you all well and we all  need to remember we are strong,  resilent women xx

  • Hi Rowdy

the scars run deep even though we don't always realise it. Glad your knee is sorted. Hope you will be up and about soon. Karen xox

  • It is not until something like that happens that we realise how fragile and stressed we are...despite thinking we are doibg okay. Glad the knee is sorted and hope you will  be up and about soon.

    Hey Rowdy,

I totally get you there Honey. I know that I was a bit panicky going in for the anaesthetic for my breast reconstruction a few weeks ago. I relate it to stuffing our feelings into an "I'm not going to cry" box, and then out it spills as the box is full and has to spill over to make room for more of those moments.

We all want to protect those around us from feeling our pain, so we suppress our own.

As far as thanking all of us for our support, I would like to thank you heaps for your support during my treatments. You've been wonderful to so many of us, so I'm sending you a huge get better soon cuddle.

Sounds like you have a gem of a husband, so lap up the services, put your leg up and get better soon.

    Hugs and fellowship, Trace ????????

  • Hi Rowdy,

Hope your knee heals well. It is surprising what will bring those emotions and memories rising to the surface. Everytime I drive past the hospital (surgery and chemo) and place that I had my radiation (just 500m from the hospital) I feel that surge of emotion.

I am glad that both my surgeon and medical oncologist have moved to different premises and this helps when I have my 6 monthly checks. I have my three year mammogram and ultrasound next month so that will be my next jolt to the system.

I am struggling with my emotions at the moment due to 2 close bc friends having serious cancer situations once again. Makes me more determined to enjoy as much as possible each and every day. I am making myself appreciate the little things and catching all those little negative thoughts that creep in if we let them.

I also appreciate the terrific friends and support that I have experienced on here. Enjoy being looked after by that lovely husband of yours.

  • Hi Rowdy - I think all husbands say that " you always wait until I sit down!"

I can understand totally, the emotions.  I recently had to go for a CT scan, unrelated to Breast cancer and it is in the same facility as Breastscreen and as soon as I saw those doors with the Breastscreen logo I thought I'm gonna lose it unless I put my head into somewhere else!

It is the fragility of where we have been and are still going and it is surprising to realise an unexpected trigger.

Wishing you well with recovery for your knee.  I had one of those many many moons ago and it was the best thing for my knee!

Of late I feel like I have become high maintenance with all these tests and ailments that have come along as well as!  Lol!

Had someone I know come to me recently to say when he was told of my BC he shrugged it off and thought oh well I wish her well!  Two months later he was diagnosed with bowel cancer and he told me I was the first person he thought of and he's had a deep and meaningful with me about the effect and where he is now at. Like most of us, he has an appreciation of everyone and everything around him.

    Funny thing this journey!

You take care and wishing you a speedy recovery and sending a virtual hug

    Christine xx
