I don't blame you for being upset! Maybe it will just be a discussion with the oncologist nothing more and as others say a chance to ask lots of questions and gather heaps of info about your situation.

No one wants the initial plans to change but sometimes they need to. My initial plan was lumpectomy and rads but due to final pathology  I have had lumpectomy and currently doing chemo with rads to follow. The thought of having chemo was horrific but I want the best chance of kicking cancer'survivor butt so I went with what was recommended.

Oh Pammy!!! I'd be really upset too!!!! especially as it seems everything was set based on your diagnosis from pathology, you mentioned Grade 1, is it IDC or DCIS? or something different? and what stage did they have it at? its so complex and there are so many factors they take into account. Having said that!!! Just maybe its part of his job to talk through Chemo and give you an option. It DOES NOT mean you have to have it or are having it! Let us all know how your appointment goes!!! I say this as my first diagnosis in 2011 was DCIS I was NOT referred to an Oncologist, my Surgeon sent me to a Radiologist then onto Tamoxifen. With my recurrence in 2015 in my scar, once I had lumpectomy and got results I was sent straight to an Oncologist, so it was different. I was ER+ only, clear nodes and margins, Stage 2 but Grade 3, it was the Grade that determined Chemo for me. So hopefully they can clear up the confusion!!! Big Hugs Melinda xo

things can change in this game at the drop of a hat. I also was told radiation and hormone therapy only but after my first op the results were different then first thought so chemo became an option that I feel was necessary to give me the best chance in moving past this. It was a shock and unexpected change to my plan but that can happen. Just see what the oncologist says. It may be just a discussion as the other ladies have said. 
Hang in there. It's tough. It's a scary game But you can do this xxx 

Hi Pammy - it is all such a roller coaster - try and think of it as just a opportunity to collect all the information and clarify the best possible treatment plan for you.  It's a bit like ticking all the boxes and leaving no stone unturned - so you get the best targeted treatment for your situation.

Oh Pammy try not to freak out. Yeah I know easier said than done.  Mine was debatable when it came to Chemo and I asked what % and what alternatives were on offer.  Remember this is about what is best for you. Write down your questions.

App is tomorrow at 3 I was never given this app in the first place so when she rang to confirm I said what app the only app I was given was for the radiation oncologist 
even the breast care nurse rang and checked her notes and said yep just radiation and tablets I'm so confused and nervous to see the oncologist tomorrow 

Pammy, totally understandable. I would go into meltdown as well - when is your appointment scheduled for? Can you phone your surgeon and speak to them regarding the pathology results as they should have been included in any discussions for chemo? At least that way you can confirm whether or not you are supposed to be having it?

When she rang today to confirm my app that was never given to me in the first place I said I was told I didn't need chemo and the reception lady said the medical oncologist wants to discuss adjuvant chemo with you I went in to meltdown as I didn't think I needed it

Well that's great news. Maybe they want to discuss further tumour testing with you to be sure. The link below explains some options.
