Got the results
I just got the phone call from the surgeon to say that the results from the second surgery are back and are good. Pre-cancerous cells found in the breast tissue (not sure exactly what that means but he said the news was good so I assume that it's gone) and no further node involvement past the 3 sentinel nodes taken last time. I'll find out more when I have my appointment next week. I also now know my oncologist (Tony Michele) and radiation oncologist (Scott Carruthers) but can't fine out much about them so I guess I'll have to wait and see what I think when I meet them. It's nice to get a good phone call.

- Hi @sister My radio oncologist was Scott Carruthers I saw him at the Lyell McEwin he ws very good got my follow up with him in a few weeks.:)

that is great that you have gotten out for your walk, yes there is pain, but remember it is best to use meds to deal with break through pain... keep cool and be proud you got out and had a walk. - And feeling much fitter today after feeling so sore yesterday- had to resort to the codeine by afternoon. I managed my first 5km walk since surgery - out at dawn as the mercury due to hit the ton today.

- I'm feeling optimistic about the oncs. My GP referred me to the surgeon as she thought he was not only good but that he was good with patients. I absolutely agree with her - he's caring but tells it straight which I appreciate. I'm assuming that these doctors he's referring me on to are ones that he is happy with so, at this stage anyway, I'm feeling positive. Love the dog analogy @Afraser
- Good news - as SoldierCrab says, your team will soon be very familiar and that's usually a good thing too. It is important that you have a good relationship with them, but sometimes it takes a couple of meetings to sort your own feelings out. I felt my oncologist was very honest from the start (OK, brutally frank!) and I liked that but also felt he might be a bit cold. I wasn't looking for a gushy person but a bit human. 2nd visit I felt fully reassured and have been very happy with him for five years - honest, frank, takes time to explain and discuss (robust discussions very occasionally!), funny when you get to know him. They aren't really sure what you are looking for either, so it's a bit like two dogs sniffing nether parts at the beginning!! But in the event of not getting on, it may be better to try someone new than try and work with someone where the relationship doesn't work.. Most professionals are just that - and are pretty good about adapting to the patient. Best wishes.

we often dont know much about our new team the med and rad oncologists but they will soon become familiar people in your life.
