Hi everyone, Thought it was time to update my profile pic. It is coming up to 6 months since my last chemo and I am feeling fit and healthy. The hair is growing slowly but nowhere near as thick as it used to be. The colour is pretty much the same although I had been having blond foils for so long to cover the grey bits that it looks much darker than most people remember me being. I'm in no hurry to start the colouring process again and don't really mind the grey bits for now. I'm liking the short length and think I will stick to a short style as it makes life simpler. I've been wondering how you were going. It does seem like a long tunnel of treatment to go through and I felt like you in that I could not wait to start so that I could it over with! I hope your tunnel has a few skylights to let the sun shine in along the way. Mine did. If you need vent along the way, please share your worries with us so that we can help you through. It will be tough but you have a great attitude that will help you through. Wishing you a speedy and bump free trip through that tunnel. Take care. Deanne xxx

My youngest daughter has moved out to go to Uni and her blow dryer was making a funny smell so I gave her mine as I was still going through Chemo at the time. So I don't even have a blow dryer at the moment! I think it may be a little while yet before I need worry about whether to get another one. It's so funny when I had to pack a bag to take away with me the other week because it just seems so empty without a blow dryer and hair bits and pieces. I travel light these days! :) Deannexxx

I found that American group too - taxotears. I actually joined them,thinking I'd be bald forever.I think they have a case if taxotere drugs can render you permanently bald - something like 6 percent I think.I questioned my oncologist but he hadn't heard that figure.However,he did say Docetaxol/taxoteres were harder on your hair follicles.I wish he'd told me that beforehand,I may have gone for another chemo combo. You look fabulous Deanne.....funky pixie cut suits you! So great to see what my hair could potentially look like in 4 months time...I'm 7 weeks post chemo now...

I'm going to try & leave the color too....always dyed it blonde.....it is very white but thinking how great Pinks hair looks & with some styling product maybe I can do without my hairdryer after 30 years!

It's a terrible time waiting for that first sign of hair regrowth. I knew that you had said yours took a while so I was trying to take comfort in this but I read on some American site (I know I shouldn't google!) that there were some women who never had their hair come back after Docetaxel! I was so relieved when it finally started to grow! To think that I used to complain about having too thick hair! :) Deanne xxx

I was one of the slow ones like you.It took 10 weeks before I saw the first strand of hair come through/I was beside myself,thought I'd be bald forever.It took 8 months to get to Fiona's stage and even then,my fringe was lagging behind.This is around the time I had my first trim and colour-it felt so good.Ok,putting my hand up,I'm vain! I like abit of hair around my face-helps hide the double chin! The pixie cut looks good on you Deanne and many other women - just not me.I'm so glad you are feeling well. Tonya xx

feeling not bad after surgery - a few people said I looked really good the night after theatre! just a pain at the site, taking panadol at night time now thats all. fingers crossed for the results on wednesday. will let you know how they come out. just taking it easy as I do get tired at the moment. xx

Yes Deanne and that photo is a month old, I had it cut styled last week (took in a picture of Charlize Theron with a beautiful pixie cut style) before I went in for another round of surgery. Even my young hairdresser (who has had chemo for BC at 25) is amazed at the growth of my hair considering I had 6 months of chemo. And have even had my eyebrows waxed, at least some of me is healthy ha ha Fiona x
