my advice is to tell the radiographer before they start of your concerns. Ask them to use the hand dial on the machine rather than the foot pedal, this gives them more control and a slower compression. I had a lady who was particularly unsympathetic resulting in me fainting with the pain she caused. Later in the day a different lady then redid my mammogram and it did not hurt at all! She didn't even compress the breast as much.
