Hey everyone - had my first TC on Monday and then on Tuesday had the Neulasta injection - have been feeling fine until Wednesday night when I’m assuming the Dex was wearing off. Woke up Thursday morning with cramps and bad muscle aches - almost felt like a flu but temp has been normal. Today feel marginally better - managed to have a shower even though it has exhausted me but still achy (although better) and flu like. Temp still normal, appetite normal, and no nausea. Just taking panadol osteo every 6 hours. Is this most likely a side effect of the Neulasta injection people have mentioned or the TC or both. My throat does feel a little funny so don’t know if it’s worth going to the doctor or not?? I know we are getting poison ☠️ pumped into our bodies but it sux how u feel ok and then it just hits u.

@jennyss @Sister @kmakm. Starting to get a sense of the cycle as it seems to be relatively as everyone said it would be. Aches and pains from the afternoon of day 3 with the worst in day 4 (which I was planning to work in the future but will not be happening I don’t think), they are starting to get better slowly now but I think that i will be pretty much useless or mildly useless from day 4-7. Thank god though I have not suffered any nausea which is a blessing (so far that is). Joint pain is less but have sore neck muscles and a grey film on my tongue - definately got the metallic taste and filminess kick in about the same time as the ashes and pains. At the moment the chemo brain hasn’t kicked in so I’m able to know when things happened - will have to start keeping a diary though for later on. I will be asking my oncologist when I see her on Tuesday for some sleeping tablets and some extra pain relief for when the joint pain kick a in and panadol osteo just isn’t cutting it. Thanks for your fabulous advice as always ladies!

@kmakm it’s good to know what to expect. I just keep looking at it as 1 down 3 to go and soon I will be halfway!! I’m all about extra pain relief if I can have it. I’m not one for pill taking but in this situation give me whatever i can have!! I have always been so proud of my memory and my boss relies on it a lot too

Diary sounds a great idea @Sister . I will start one. Like you @kiwiangel I haven't had any nausea. My aches and pains seemed to subside this morning, although still there a little. I feel more awake this evening. I got out in the garden today and yesterday for an hour or so and managed to fill a wheelbarrow. The weather has been glorious. My taste buds have left the building. I do have tingling and a fuzzy feeling in my scalp. @kmakm @"Kiwi Angel" i agree with new normal. I'm taking coloxyl for the first time in my life.

@Finch my aches and pains have mostly started to subside today - couldn’t of done anything on Thursday and on Friday was quite flat too - possibly compounded by the Neulasta injection. My taste buds are still there but a little muted and seem a littler better tonight - I also feel like I have had a mouth coating for a couple of days but that was better tonight. I haven’t used the bathroom today but haven’t taken ducolax for a couple of day but will hopefully be ok soon. Don’t want my body to start relying on the tablets so I’m going to try and use them just round each dose. I have abit of itchiness at the base of my scalp where the cold cap would not of covered me so I don’t know if that is potentially good news for the rest of my hair or it just needs to catch up Has been beautiful weather this weekend - managed to get out abit more today - hoping to be able to enjoy the next 2 days more before going back to work. Happy Easter

@"Kiwi Angel" You'll get to know your cycle even if each time it is a little bit different. The biggest advice is not to suffer in silence. I keep a record of when and what I take and not down how I'm feeling at the time. Before I see the oncologist for the next treatment, I put together a brief chemo diary of how I've travelled during the 3 weeks (eg. Can trace extent of nausea by how often I've taken the meds). I also include a dot point list of any side effects/health issues that I've noticed. I just hand it to him at the beginning and we start the conversation from there.

Tru dat @jennyss. My fatigue was unable-to-sit-upright full on from halfway through Day 3 to halfway through Day 6 and then Day 7 in cycles three and four.

the nurse from my oncology clinic when she phoned yesterday wanted me to see the doctor yesterday @kiwiangel and they've wacked me on antibiotics because my throat was red. I'm not sure if it was entirely necessary. I'm just doing as I'm told at the moment. My body feels flu like but I presumed that was expected. My temp has been fine.

@kmakm thanks for that. Just having some soup I made the other day while hubby makes some bruschetta and then to bed with my book for awhile. Can’t remember I had a Good Friday this quiet!! Your henna looks great!!!

I had the bone aches for about 48 hours, with fatigue. Chemo on Mondays like you, and I started to slowly improve on the Saturday. Keep an eye on your temperature but it all sounds pretty 'normal' to me.

Dear @"Kiwi Angel", In August, Sept, Oct last year I had 4 rounds of TC. I had the bad muscle aches, especially across the shoulders and neck; and fatigue just about on the same time line you describe - the fun a girl can have! I had these side effects each round, with and without Neulasta. That is good you are keeping an eye on your temperature. Hope you are feeling a bit better this weekend.
