- SoldierCrabMemberHi Pammiesyd,
I get pain in my arm/elbow after wearing my sleeve all day if I say drive for more than a few hours, I believe it is where our elbow creases. get it checked out by your therapist that organised your sleeve for you. it could be that you need a different style of sleeve or a larger/smaller sleeve. - pammiesydMemberThank you for the feedback. I am not due to see her until June. How often do you see yours?
- lrb_03MemberHi @pammiesyd. I think you posted something similar once before. Is your elbow red or irritated when you take your sleeve off? Have you tried using a stylus?
My sleeves are custom made. My most recent has been one with a special bit around the elbow that is a little softer, but to be honest, I'm not convinced it was worth the extra cost, at roughly $100 more than my previous sleeves.
I hope you work something out, but if it's that uncomfortable, you try and see your therapist sooner. I see mine every 6-8 weeks, and in the alternate 6-8 weeks I see a lymphatic massage therapist who works with her. Because of issues with both my wrists, I don't do any self massage, so it's an important part of my maintenance , but costly.
Take care - pammiesydMemberYes, the inside is red and irritated but it is gone by morning. Once the sleeve is off, my discomfort is gone. I have tried using a stylus, but it does not make much difference.
My therapist, who has now moved to a more research oriented hospital, said the research shows massage is not very useful, so I don’t do any, only a few exercises to try and get the lymph moving.
I guess this this is just something else to put up with and try not to complain about (well only on this forum). - TonyaMMemberI’ve been told to massage firmly rather than the soft stroking as this is the latest evidence based info.
- SoldierCrabMemberI see mine fortnightly
- Jane221MemberHi @pammiesyd, the inside of my elbow sometimes gets red and irritated and I was told to use a little bit of curash (baby nappy rash) powder on the area. I sprinkle a little bit on each morning after my shower and before I put my sleeve on for the day. It seems to help and I've had less irritation since using it. I think it also helps that I changed the style of sleeve and my new one seems to have a softer elbow crease area, so that might help too. Best of luck with it. Jane xx
- Brenda5MemberMy physio said just wear it as much as you can and if its hurting, take it off for a few hours for a break and then put it back on. Mine touch wood doesn't currently need the sleeve. Shhhh don't jinx it. <3
- pammiesydMemberThank you both for your responses. I will try them all.
