  • Thanks Ladies,

My operation date is set for the 12-12 so I'll be well out of action for christmas this year,  I don't know how my family of 8 will suffer the deprivation of my being able to cook xmas dinner %-S  Luckily for me my 2 eldest girls are able to cook, but I might have to stand on the side lines and shoot off instructions on how to do the cooking properly though!  hahaha..........

  • Hi Susan,

I haven't been through this yet but all I can say is try and get some help from your oncologist. There is nothing worse than feeling out of control. BC will do that!! I've had the odd hot flush but I've sure this is the calm before the storm.

Some great advice here too from these lovely ladies.

Hang in there! Thinking of you and I'm sure you will have things sorted in no time.

    Love Alison xx

  • Just when you think you have it "all under control" things start to crack.  You are not alone. Not sure how I overcome it but I know I was "there".  Tough b..... some would say but underneath I am just as soft and vunerable as everyone.  I really think I have "survived" the dreaded mood swings and lack of sleep because of meditation.  I was lucky enough to participate in the Cancer Council's Mindfulness course.  I learnt so much from this course and was totally dedicated to the task of "staying with it".  This meant religiously meditating each day.  Also as Maria says rest plays a huge part - this is resting of the mind mostly.  Stillness in mind and body is very healing.  Have you sat still today and "dropped" all thoughts of "doing" and just "listened" to what your body is doing??  Sounds hard but it becomes so easy and so worthwhile.  I hope you can have this same opportunity that I was able to complete and be able to achieve invaluable learning. Something to think about and check out. XLeonie

  • After I finished chemo last year,I started on Tamoxifen and my emotions were all over the shop. One minute I'd be depressed ,crying and the next I'd be irritable, cranky with poor hubby.I had bad hot flushes and couldn't sleep so went on a small dose antidepressant called Endep(10mg)and that really helped -no apparent side effects.Meditation and a support group or counselling may help too.Ask your doc about what you can have because there are options.
