Most people have been extremely empathetic and offered help except family . Apart from my Dad everyone is ignoring me like it is an inconvenience to them feel sad tody. Have my second operation 13th JANUARY, THEY REMOVE RIGHT BREAST.

Peta it's a hard long road I've been lucky with my family but they still don't get what we go through I've actually in my mind eliminated some people I thought were friends I forgive them but I won't forget the silence from some of them some people just don't get it in fact even though I was working with people with major disabilities diseases I don't think I got the full picture do however get it now. I had left mastectomy 6 weeks to go of a total of 6 months chemo then 5 weeks radio I found a lot don't cope when they actually see me it's a hard road much love just do one day at a time try and find some peace

I had 16 months treatment and got very little support from my immediate family. I'm only just realising that they didn't know what to do and weren't coping. They were so used to me being the one who copes and gets everything done, that because I had fallen in a heap, they were just wandering around in circles chasing their tales. My 20 year old son and husband have only been able to start to talk about it in the last couple of months. There has been a lot of anger and resentment on my part towards them, as it felt like nothing had changed in their lives and absolutely everything had changed for me and they just didn't get it. I had the support of my brother and two girlfriends. If it wasn't for them, I'm not sure how I would have got through. Surround yourself with the people who offer you help and assistance. Now has. to be about you and the rest will have to fend for themselves. Just try to remember that it really is a very hard, confronting time for everyone around you too. In time to come you may begin to understand that they have struggled almost as much as you have. I would also suggest that you get some counselling. It really does help. Take care. Karen xix
Hi Peta some people just don't know what to say and I think deep down some of them are thinking how happy that it is not them. I know that sounds bad but sometimes it gets to much. Cheer up and save your strength for the next part of your trip. Merry Christmas and looking forward to a happy healthy new year xx

13th is a little while off so perhaps they think you will be ok for Christmas and stuff, then the worrying starts? Its not that bad really. I thought it was a humungous happening in my life but once done I realised I had worked myself up far more than I needed to. It is very hard sometimes not to.
I also think friends forget what's been happening. Take for instance two male friends at a morning tea who struck up boob jokes. Gosh I felt like lifting my top and saying joke at that smarties. People just forget I think.
