Docetaxel.... Taxing

Day 9 - after round six.

Why is it you go to bed, you ARE tired, and it takes 3 hours to fall asleep??? Ok the fact that my hands and feet were on fire may have contributed.... I don't know how to relieve that, not sure you can, so I eventually just fell asleep....

No matter what I do , my skin is so dry and peely ... Almost straight after I apply the creams it's dries out again.... The discomfort from this nerve damage is becoming annoying as I thought it would settle by now .... It makes opening things hard, holding things hard , chopping up food hard, walking.... I'm hoping this nerve damage isn't permanent!

Anyways I made up for taking so long to get to sleep.. I woke up at 10am!

Did my usual stretching and exercises... Then had breakfast... I decided to make a yummy casserole for dinner... And just by doing that I'm so tired! It had better be worth it...

Tried to sit outside, the sun is out, but no, the wind sent my nose running so back inside I went... At least my back has settled... Just have to be particular with the way I move once sitting or my tailbone lets me know!

So I guess I'll spend the afternoon inside watching even more TV! *sigh*

Hoping to feel even better over the next few days.... And even better for Sunday...
Margaret Byrnes has been working her little butt off getting everything in place for my Australia's Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser.... So hope to see you there and if you can't, donate! Every cent goes to the Cancer Council towards finding a cure!!! And we all want a cure for this bitch of a disease ....we are nearly half way to reaching our fundraising goal!!!!

Happy Thursday!!

  • Yes Gurneys...I've resorted to wearing only socks and slippers when at home...not matter who comes over!

And have gone from heels or flats with rockabilly dresses to jeans and skechers when i go out.....the skechers have memory foam in them so they are super gentle on my sore toes and feet!

Hope it subsides for you soon too...it really is annoying!

  • Thanks Jel...i will get some when i go shopping! I grew up using good old Nivea....never even gave it a thought.....I've been using Moo Goo, which is grreat, but as time wore on didn't seem to be enough

  • Oh my goodness, I just read your first paragraph about your hands and feet being on fire! Yes! I'm experiencing that too and I was wondering if that was normal. I was going to tell my oncol about it today. And shoes! I can't wear shoes anymore. They hurt my feet too much, especially around my heel and toes. I look like some kind of weirdo when I try to walk with shoes on, wincing with each step! I'd rather put up with cold feet and thongs at the moment.

  • I should have also mentioned that Nivea creammfeels so cooling on the skin that it takes the heat out the second it is applied so might help you falling asleep too ??

  • Hi there gorgeous lady... no suggestions for falling asleep but I have found a mirracle cure for dry skin during AC that maybe can help you too.

Nivea cream. Just basic cream that comes in a blue tub - not the various versiona of their lotions and potions. Yes it is very thick when applied and takes a while to absorb so best done in bed and I apply it to hands and feet as in the 1st round my hands blistered completely - and my heels cracked and bled.

Nivea saved me in the 1st round and is now managing to keep blistering and cracking at bay. I rub it generously into my feet three times daily and hands after almost every handwashing and it is working. Feet feel good and hands feel tender but no actual visible signs of dey skin and no blisters or cracks...

I hope it helps you too - and you can pick up a blue tub of Nivea cream in any supermarket these days...
