Going to see Plastic Surgeon on the 18th December. Have one large breast, the other one completely gone after two opps. to get the cancer. Ready for reconstruction and would like some information from you lovely ladies. Have looked at some photos, only want two little lumps. Any information would be most welcome. What do I need to know? If they take from my tummy, how long is recovery and what complications. Don't realy want implants, just two little me's.

  • I had a diep flap in Feb and I am so, so happy with it. My other breast is still heaps bigger but I am on the waiting list for a reduction to match the newer one which is exactly the size I wanted. The first few  days in hospital you have to crouch over so my back was the most painful part of me. The rest I found a breeze. As soon as I could straighten up I was away laughing.

Good luck with your reconstruction although I know you won't need it. Which hospital are you going to?

  • Great minds Paul :) Good luck with finding the right choice for you Chris. Love Janey xxx
  • Just read your blog and realized the lovely Janey has recommended the page to you. See we all promote it as it's such a great page. Good luck. Paula :)
  • http://www.bcna.org.au/group/61026 Above is a link to an online breast reconstruction group. All ladies who have had or are interested in reconstruction. There are many stories, some with photos. It is a private group but above is the link to request membership. It is run by a very special lady called Louise Turner. These very generous ladies sharing there information have made my research so much easier and so much more real. I am just 12days post op from having a prophylactic mastectomy and double tram flap reconstruction. I wasn't very big and have ended up with two little me's that I just love. As I am still in recovery mode I have not managed to put my story up. What I can briefly say is the first few days in hospital were really hard, I was home though 6 days after the op and continue to improve daily. Although I am sure I have a long way to go in my recovery I am definitely moving in the right direction. I think being as fit and healthy as you can preop really helps. Ask lots of questions, I still am!!! Be sure about what you want, and don't be afraid of a second opinion. Good luck. Paula :)
