Hi Mich
Sorry to hear you're going through this hurdle -- when does it end?
I thought I would jump on here and let you know we briefly discuss breast lymphoedema in an article in a previous edition of The Beacon - check out issue 58, page 3 - http://www.bcna.org.au/news/beacon-magazine/beacon-archive.
Here's an excerpt:
Some women are surprised to learn that they can develop lymphoedema in their breast, as well as their arm, following treatment. The use of sentinel
node biopsy (the removal of the first lymph node that a woman’s
breast cancer may have spread to for testing) has reduced the rate of arm lymphoedema, because of the reduced number of nodes being removed. However, reports suggest that this technique may increase the risk of breast lymphoedema.
I hope this helps. ~ Annie
