BraOVO Test and Payment
Hi Lovelies,
It has been a while since I have visited the forum. I hope that everyone has been able to take some time to rest and reflect over this crazy festive season.
My question is for those that have had genetic testing - I am having the BraOVO test via www.genomicdiagnostics.com.au
I really just want to know if you were provided with an invoice?
The company has phoned me for payment, however they do not provide an invoice, payment is only available via CC over the phone or on their website. I don't have a problem with the cost itself, I am just paranoid about being scammed. My test was done at S&N.

- I had the blood test done in Dec 2020...cost was $399 and done with QML Pathology here in Brisbane.I was called by Genomic Diagnostic (in Melb) to take payment over the phone and then received a call from Genetic Councelling Aust to discuss testing and book an appointment to go through the consent form that was emailed to me about the test.
the Councelling cost $99 - Thanks everyone for your help! What a wonderful bunch you all are :)I have paid for the test ( I am really curious about the results!). These results will help me decide re getting my 'good' breast removed and having double reconstruction or going with single reconstruction (already had single mastectomy).It was a blood test (well, two ten minutes apart) at the local pathology place (SNP).When I get the results, I will let you all know how it went.The cost was $399 as I am not eligible for the free option.Thanks again for all your help.Wishing you all the best possible 2021.

Like @Dory65, my oncologist sent my referral for a test which was recently done by Professor Allan Spigelman, Director St Vincent's Cancer Genetics Clinic. I had the blood test at my local hospital. This was all at no cost to me.
Best wishes and Happy New Year! - Hi @LIttleBlueWren, I used to work in a Genomic Testing Facility but had not heard of the private company that is doing your test, so I took a look at them on the internet. They are legitimate and they are NATA accredited (which means they are legit). I also noted that there are now medicare numbers for a lot of the oncology genomics testing including BRAVO (which tests for BRACA and some other genes related to breast and ovarian cancer). Therefore, if you paid the full amount you should get an invoice so that you can go to medicare and claim. However, they may have only charged you with the gap and hence feel that you don't need an invoice. I am sure you will get one if you ask though. Give them a call and ask.
- In case anyone is wondering about genetic testing and lives in or near Sydney, my lovely radiation oncologist arranged my genetic test, which cost me nothing. I just had to wait for the genetic testing clinic to come to my region. The wait would not be ideal if the test was needed in a hurry in order to to make surgery decisions. In that case, I would have gone to Sydney. The blood test was taken here on the NSW Central Coast, by Professor Allan Spigelman, Director St Vincent's Cancer Genetics Clinic, The Kinghorn Cancer Centre. The results came back after 8 weeks.
- Could it have gone to the surgeon? They are the ones who permit the tissue sample to be released for testing. Or was it a blood test? Where was it carried out? There should have been paperwork involved at that point.
- No company should be providing a service without an invoice.
- Is an alternate facility available?

Check with your States Consumer Affairs if they are legit
It is a legal requirement to issue an invoice
