Amended dates received

My breast care nurse has just rung me with amended dates.

I will now be having the CT & U/S on the 8th April. I also have an appointment with my BC nurse on the 13th to discuss the port fitting & chemo info, with a start date of chemo on the 19th April.

I am so glad as the waiting & not knowing was starting to worry me.

  • Anything that saves money at this stage is a good thing. Hope you're recovering well from surgery, Lyn

  • Thanks Christine I do have a good support team behind me & I have taught my hubby how to use the washer. Lol

    Hope you are keeping well.

  • Hi Eileen - these are all positive things for you!  My darling friend Meredith had a port fitted when she was going through treatment and it  gave her comfort.

Now you can concentrate on the things that make our lives tick, stocking up on groceries, detergents, enough PJs, clothes and undies et cetera if you don't want to do the washing (domestic life takes up a lot of our time) as well as time out for yourself.

Good luck with your treatment, you are in good hands by the sounds of it and you've got all of us on the forum.

    Take care

  • Thank you Lyn

I asked the oncologist about Emla & he said they provide it which saves me buying it.

Thank you for warning me about the port I will have pain killers ready.

  • Hi Eileen. You'll appreciate the port as time goes on. It makes chemo much easier. Having time frames & dates is also helpful.

Be prepared for the port site to be quite swollen & tender. I wasn't expecting it, & woke up feeling like I had a third breast. It took a couple of weeks to settle. I've recently seen others on the site discuss the use of Emla patches prior to each chemo. This is a local anaesthetic patch. I never had it, but would certainly suggest it for at least the 1st chemo, as the site will still be tender. It certainly is operater dependant, I had some episodes where it hurt quite a bit, but I had a port flush a couple of weeks ago ( I haven't had mine removed yet) and barely felt a thing.

    Take care, Lyn

  • Thank you Tracy & Brenda without  the support of you both & the Bcna forum I do not know what I would be like. I am now going in for day surgery on the 12th for the port fitting.

    Wishing you both the best.

    Eileen. xx
