Aches and pains
Hi ladies, I am 5 weeks past chemo and I'm not sure how I should be feeling. I have developed aches and pains, I'm still retaining fluid, and my arms and legs are feeling heavy and tired. I did get my arm pain checked out, the nurse thought it was DVT, it wasn't, but they could find no other problem. I guess what I want to know is, is any of this normal? I was a bit naive thinking once chemo was over, I would bounce back. I have done 5/30 radiology appointments, so far, so good. Unfortunately, my mini holiday at the coast was spoiled when I sat down on the beach and my leg locked up. It seems I have cartlidge problems and if it should happen again I will require surgery, it is slowly getting better, I couldn't face another operation at this stage. I am treading water with my depression at the moment, sometimes I go down and then I pop up and soldier on. My partner has been a great support and I love him so much for putting up with me. I did dabble with the theory that at some time I must have done something wrong and all of this is payback. But my partner, doctor and psychologist all assure me it's just plain bad luck. I do have some good days when I appreciate all the good things in my life. I have a good prognosis, friends and family who love me. So it's not all bad and I realise it could be worse. Would appreciate hearing what others felt like in the weeks after chemo finishes. Don't see my oncologist again till May so can't really ask her. Thanks ladies and I hope you are all travelling as well as can be expected. Take care,
Hazel xx
