Hi Hazel
I am nearly 4 years on from diagnosis and when I read you blog I thought of how I was after chemo and you know I was very like you. I finished chemo at the beginning of Dec2010 and remember sitting at my mother-in -laws place on Boxing Day with feet twiceas big as they should be , no hair, and weighing 10 kgs more thanI had in a very long time and it hurt every time I got out of the chair! I began radiation in Jan 2011 and had some issues with swelling in my chest but otherwise it was much easier than chemo and I began to walk the dog every day for 45 minutes. What you are experiencing is I think the normal path we have to travel. It does get so much better. In June 2011 I joined a Dragon Boat Paddling group which changed my life and my weight ! It's great exercise for your arm and also for the soul! I very quickly found I was so much fitter. I allowed 2011 to be my recovery year and then in 2012 my year to get fitter so I joined a gym and am now pretty fit. I am also paddling in the sports team and looking forward to the International Breast Cancer Regatta in October this year in Florida. i never imagined that I would be so competitive at 55 years of age!
Good luck and you will find your new normal.
