#2 hair cut!

Just wrote a post and lost it trying to insert a photo from my phone :-( Basically I cut my hair to a #2 last night and really like it! Have been stressing at work that clumps would fall out while serving a customer. Now I'm not worried cos it won't be as noticeable :-D Will try add photos in the comment section so I don't loose the post again.

  • Hi Karen I enjoyed now bold too. Honest I didn't struggle for the hair, I made the cut down to just 2mm same day before first chemo drip. Still telling u, my 2mm still falling handful when about the second drip.... or leaving a 'bunch ' on pillow the morning time. Now finishing chemo just 1months, no sign of growing yet, but really love the way every day after shower. Cheers Rosanna
  • Hi Bobbie

Absolutely fabulous photos, you look amazing. I may have a go as well when my time comes.

  • Congratulations for taking the big shave step. Lots of ladies can't bear to do it, but I think in the long run it's the better way to go because you don't see your long hair come out by the handful - no point trying to avoid the inevitable!

I was worried (like you) that it would just fall out in big clumps, but I found that mine just thinned out a lot by itself, then would noticibly come out where I touched it ie. if I scratched, or where it rested on the pillow.

One day I got so sick of having everything covered in little spikes of hair, and having to constantly try to not touch it, I just got in the shower and rubbed it all off. And never looked back!

I can 100% honestly truly say that I enjoyed being bald much more than having hair. I never covered it once (unless I was going out in the middle of the day) and I had more fun trying to embellish it ie. creative makeup, big earrings, body painting, Indian head jewellery, henna tattoos etc. I was using Nair hair removal cream on my head for a little while because I wasn't ready for the hair to come back - I wasn't done with being bald! I'm lucky enough to know some excellent photographers, and we all jumped at the chance to document this stage of my life and make it look as attractive as possible. ie. bald doesn't have to mean "victim".

Now that it's growing back, I'm actually a bit sad that it's a stage of my life now over! I guess I could always shave it off again one day, if I get the urge. I added a couple of pics for you - there's others in my blog. I know what I did isn't for everyone, but Don't be scared of the bald, embrace it! :-) Congrats again!

  • The thought of loosing our hair is scary at first but like you most of us get to the point and think bugger it I'll shave it off. Its sort of empowering I think gives us control again, for a short while anyway.

To be honest I got to the point that my hair loss was not important I had other things to think about, that being said when it started to grow back Iw as so excited.

Here I am 19 months post chemo and I still have my chemo curls!

    sending you hugs
