Hi
I am brand new to this, 47 years old. Had mammogram April, diagnosis triple pos in May and only now about to start treatment. It’s been a a long wait. Mine is the chemo and hormone treatment first, prob 6 months then probably surgery. I don’t know that I had an option? It wasn’t really discussed, just decided. I’m. It sure what to expect but understand there is more treatment again after the surgery. It’s a lot to take in and understand! I hope all goes well for you.

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis and am sending you lots of virtual hugs of support as you start treatment.
I was diagnosed in January 2023 and completed my treatment for triple positive breast cancer about 14 months later in April 2024.
You might find this resource helpful to understand your particular circumstances in the context of other variations and why there are different approaches for some people compared to yours https://myneoguide.com/#/I had chemo and immunotherapy first as I was told it would be useful to shrink the size of the 3.8 cm lump (it did) and to see if I was responding to the chemotherapy (I did). After 6 cycles of TCHP I had surgery, then radiation therapy and then I started the hormone (oestrogen suppressing tablets) and further chemo and immunotherapy treatment targeting the HER2+ attributes.
The treatment is manageable but it is good to be prepared as you can be. There’s a Triple Positive group on the BCNA network and you can submit a request to be joined to the discussions which might be useful.

Do you know if you will be recommended to have a “port” which is like a catheter under the skin that makes it easier to administer intravenous fluids (for chemo). I had one and it was very convenient.
The treatments can leave you feeling very low in energy - although everyone is different and some experience side effects and some do not. So it’s worthwhile giving yourself a bit of space in respect of work commitments, to see how you go.
One of the things I found incredibly important for my wellbeing and stamina was being part of an oncology exercise physiotherapy program - if you have a program offering in your treatment centre then an oncologist or GP may be able to refer you to the program.Sending you lots of positive energy and good vibes as you progress to treatment.
