There and Back Again
Hi All.
Swings and Roundabouts.
The lumpectomy was almost a month ago. Two weeks ago I went back down to Perth for the results.
Good news - the 2 lymph nodes removed were clear. So no radiation treatment.
Bad news - The wide margin wasn’t wide enough. There is still a couple of mm of cancerous tissue left.
I’m small breasted so there is not enough breast tissue left to do a second breast conservation. So I’m booked in for a mastectomy this week. I fly back down Tuesday evening for surgery Wednesday morning. Will stay down there 10 days so I don’t have to travel there and back with the drain.
On the 2nd of October I see the surgeon to have the drain removed and find out if I require chemo on top of the endocrine treatment.
I’m sick of travelling. I’m sick of having new things to manage : I’ve developed cording in my left armpit.
In the short space of 6 weeks I’ve gone from being very fit and healthy to worrying about getting scratches on my arm.
I was sick as a dog for 12 hours after surgery. So not looking forward to recovery on Wednesday.
Very up and down the past week or so waiting for the next surgery. Trying my best not to get too low but grrr.
Would give anything to smash plates and scream

- Thinking of you. Rest up. Hope you are being looked after in the cancer council accommodation. You will feel better once the drains are out. xxx

I see my surgeon tomorrow. Drain output has dramatically decreased so I’m hoping it’s dropped enough for removal tomorrow. (Oh please oh please oh please oh please)I was scheduled to fly home tomorrow afternoon but after all the extra surgery have postponed it til Tuesday afternoon. I might find out on Monday if I require chemo.
Whatever will be will be. After last weekend I’m not expecting anything to go as I expect... - Take care, @Raich .... make haste slowly. I hope you aren’t in pain or too much discomfort til the drain is removed xx
- Hi all, was discharged yesterday. Recuperating at cancer council accommodation until drain is removed. Feeling very tired today, but I’ve also just started back on my ADD meds which I haven’t taken since last week. Who knows what the side effects are from.... take your pick! 😬🤣

- Thanks @arpie, I’m much more comfortable now. Happy they kept me in a second night. See what happens today. Will I stay or will I go? (There’s your daily earworm!) Quite happy to be looked after as I’m nervous about a repeat performance.

Only, of course, it wasn’t fun.
presented at ED at 3am, admitted at 4:30am, surgery at 3pm ( same surgeon as previous 2 matches)
