and nerves are kicking in. I have synchronous breast cancer and my mastectomy(s) are tomorrow. I haven't slept much. So today I will do some house keeping, clean the bathroom, vacuum, pack my bag and charge my toothbrush. I am not ready for this.

I had a double mastectomy in September. Didn't think I would ever get through it or over it..... I got through it with the support of family, friends and BCNA. I still haven't gotten over it but it does get easier day by day. The first time looking in the mirror is the hardest. I ended up seeing a counsellor and she really helped my put things in perspective. I now try to look in the mirror and tell myself that the cancer is gone, the scars are my journey and I'm blessed to be here. Will be thinking of you today and in the days to come. I don't think anyone ever is @jan61 but somehow we get ourselves through the hospital doors. It's awful but, thankfully, you only have to do it once. Good luck tomorrow from one who's been there too. Mxx

I buried my head in the sand @jan61 and three weeks later I think I have accepted it by poking my head out occasionally. Keeping busy is good and putting your head in your happy place works wonders. xxxx
