Hi there. I'm in Newcastle and have gone private so far with all my treatment. I'm in the middle of my chemotherapy and see a medical oncologist at Newcastle Private Hospital oncology centre. He is great and although I have a gap payment for each appointment I have before chemo (think it's around $40 each time), all I had to pay was my hospital excess for the chemo. But if you have paid your hospital excess for the year already for surgery then you would have no cost I assume.
As for radiation I'm supposed to be going to Genesis Cancer Centre at Gateshead but in the process of working out if I'll still go private or to the Mater hospital which is public due to the cost which will be involved for private. More phone calls to make about it today as it depends on your fund cover also and I'm in the process of changing funds.
If you go to the Mater everything is under public and would be covered.
Hope that has helped.
Who is the surgeon you are under ?
Good luck with it all xx
