JUST ADDING MY 2cents WORTH (Rant) to this thread
Oncotype testing wasn’t even offered to me might not have been around in 2016 when i was first diagnosed. Not that i had or have that sort of cash to spare anyway
i did the 1st chemo and 8 rounds of taxol before pn reared its ugly head.
At the scan just prior to surgery it was discovered the tumour hadn’t shrunk much anyway. Now metastatic so I’m still costing the government heaps.
They just don't get it. Thank goodness for BCNA and CC and others For fighting and getting what we do have in the medicare system.
I spent 11 months on newstart/ jobseeker while under treatment 20 weeks over the chemo stage that was $6000 worth of payments. When like you said i could have been off work for a shorter time and earned a wage instead Of living in poverty and depleting my super and now. I’ll be on a full centrelink age pension costing tax payers even more.
I just don't think they get it. I know its not an endless supply of $ In government budgets but there is so much waste Things we can live without that gets $’s wasted on.
Im still on jobseeker top up. Due partly to the ravages of treatment on my poor body.
The only way i will be able to give back to this country of ours when i do get to retire is volunteering my time to give back to the ones that helped me. Eg bcna and cancer council
i could go on and on but i wont
Cancer sucks bad to anyone that gets the big C of any sort
End of rant
