Hi all,I have been stalking this page for last few days and am in awe of all the amazing women on here and the sage advice you are all able to share.My story so far - l am 42 and mother to 3. I found a lump in my right breast 2 weeks ago. My G.P referred me for a mammogram and ultrasound and after reviewing sent me to my now breast surgeon. She confirmed it was a cancer and we now need to find out what type. Core biopsy results are in and l have an invasive Oestrogen positive lump grade 2-3 stage 2, Nodes appear clear. Recommend treatment is to remove lump first and then begin chemo. First l will have MRI and C.T to be sure l am clear everywhere else. Surgery wil be in next few weeks and then chemo to follow.I feel so much more positive having a game plan and will go into this with a can do attitude. I also know this site and all you wonderful warriors will be able to guide me through this and l hope as l travel along and learn the ropes l too will be able to offer that same support.

I too am a page stalker... Diagnosed 2 days ago and feeling like it's been 2 weeks. I still don't know exactly what's coming but reading the various posts at least gives me some context. Go girls!

Hello my friends. So lovely to hear the encouraging words from you all. @sister, I hope your recovery is progressing well & the pain is getting less. Thanks for your thoughts & I too am thinking of you. I had my first day of no pain relief yesterday & got through it with manageable pain. Slowly but surely for us both. Off to see the surgeon tomorrow for my results so fingers crossed. Thanks @poodlejules for your info. Unfortunately, I don't live in Vic. but it has given me some info to check out for my state! Congrats on your 1st year op anniversary. I hope you celebrated with some champagne as you deserve it! It gives us strength to know that others before us are still winning the fight. Even though our experiences are all different, we are joined together by a common thread & we are all here for each other. Thanks @iserbrown for your words which are so true. "There is always someone on the forum to offer support & for us who are recovering, we need time to let our bodies heal". Happy New Year to you all & lets hope 2018 is a great year for us all.

Welcome @Salpal to the group none of wants to be a part of. I did the same as you when I first arrived and staked the pages for a few days to get a lay of the land shall we say. I’m sorry you have had to join us too but you will certainly find lots of positivity and great advice here. Don’t be shy and ask as many questions as you want to. None are silly and someone will usually be around to answer for you. Keep yourself busy over the next few weeks while you wait for your surgery and surround yourself with positive people who will be there for you when you need them. Take care xx Lesley

Hi there lovey. Welcome to the place where all the cool kids hang out! There definately are some really awesome people on this forum and all too happy to give you any advice you need about anything. There are also some good support services out there if you need them too so just sing out. I live brisbane north and am familiar with them where I am if you are anywhere near me. Also cooking prior to treatment is what I did too just makes life easier and I’m sure you’re normally an independent bugger but if you have people offer to help with the kids, housework, bills, or anything else it is totally find to accept that help. You will soon find out who your true friends are and be prepared as some might drop off your radar too. I was 43 last year when I was diagnosed with triple neg bc stage 2a grade 3 no lymph nodes involved and scans all clear had left mastectomy so I only had to have chemo and not rads as well then took the other boob off 6 months later as I chose too I had 8 rounds of chemo. It is doable and it helps to be organised and like always @InkPetal has some great ideas to get you organised. I bloody hated the wigs too they were hot and annoying and I never wore it I just got really cool bandanas to wear which I loved. Keep in touch love. Margie. Xx

I think we are in the same boat. but you are a bit ahead of me. My bc game is in between, being diagnosed with trip neg bc and ruling out the metastasis. In a waiting game with doctor and breast care nurse. All might now happen mid next year.
by the way, i am from Melbourne

@Anne65 I am so pleased that you are home but it sounds like you have had a gruelling time. I hope the pain is getting less. I was thinking of you during this whole experience.

@Sister@salpal and @Anne65, if you're in Melbourne, please give the Think Pink website a look. They have great programs including a free (new) wig from their wig library. They also have an apartment which is free to stay in for BC patients who have to travel to Melbourne from the country for treatment .

I just celebrated my 1 year op anniversary last week and I think back to last year to what a crying mess I was, I then realise how far I've come, so hang in there Ladies and Happy Christmas x

Yay that surgery is now behind you, even though it is a bit more uncomfortable than anticipated! No matter time of day or night there's always someone on the forum or about to come on that can offer support! Take care and allow your body time for recovery

Thanks @sister & @salpal for your love & support. I hope you are feeling better day by day @sister. I was truly thinking of you when I was waiting for my surgery & "holding your hand" & wishing us both a good outcome. Sorry you have been feeling ill but know we are all sending you our love & strength. I came out of hospital Friday & then had a 2 hr drive home. I am in so much pain as the surgeon not only gave me a lumpectomy but also cut a flap of skin/flesh to fill in the gap so she "did a lot of work on me". I have spent the last 2 days home crying & in lots of pain but the love & support I have received from this forum along with family, friends & BCNA have blown me away. I had a call from the breast care nurse from the hospital yesterday & had numerous visits while in hospital. I got my pink satin cushion & berlei post-op bra & other goodies to help me through. It has been a very humbling experience, receiving so much support from people I hardly know or have never met. You build friendships for life! I hope to see my family for Christmas tomorrow. It will be quiet but it will give me a chance to thank them for their love. I am with you @sister all the way through your rehab & we will continue to improve day by day. To everyone out there recovering or about to undergo surgery, I am with you all the way & wish you strength in the days ahead. I hope everyone can enjoy some happy times over Christmas & New Year & be thankful for the support we have & the love we share with family & friends. xxxx
