Wishing you all the best for your surgery next week, @mumto6kids. I hope you have good support at home, as assuming you DO have 6 kids, you may well need it over Xmas & into the new year xx
Yes, It is a real shock when you get a BC diagnosis …. A bit like a cricket bat to the head, actually - and all the emotions you’ve probably felt, are totally normal - anger, fear, disbelief …. If you find it a bit overwhelming, give our helpline a buzz (Mon-Fri 9-5) on 1800 500 258 - sometimes it just helps when you can chat to someone who ISN’T too close to you xx.
Have you been assigned a Breast Care Nurse yet? They should become your first port of call for any queries (or whack it up here too, & we may be able to help you too xx.). We’ve ’been there, done that’ .. so know exactly how you are feeling xx
You can read up on the forum a bit here - lots of tips (eg what to take to with you to hospital …. Front opening PJs etc) and we even have a couple of funny threads, as we all need a laugh now & then xx. Also - there are some ‘tick sheets’ to see how you are going physically and emotionally …. You can fill them in & take them with you as it can be easier giving them the list, than talking about it (I’d just get emotional!) …
