I started a blog when I was recovering from surgery and gave the address to friends, family and colleagues. I kept it updated with what was happening but also my state of mind mixed with general day-to-day stuff. It meant that I didn't have to keep saying the same things over and over and I found that many people appreciated having that insight without having to ask, so it worked both ways. Now I have a document that documents what I went through and how I felt about it, much of which I probably wouldn't remember otherwise.
