I was recently diagnosed too, and while I appreciated everyone's concern for me, I found keeping them informed took a lot of energy that I didn't have. Also, I found myself reassuring everyone I was fine, so they would feel better, rather than being able to be honest about how scared I was.
So I Googled and found CaringBridge, and set up my own 'site' (it's super easy, takes 5 min). As well as a journal where I can keep people updated, it has a Well Wishes section where people can leave me their thoughts, and words of support and encouragement. Being able to read through them all in one spot that I can access anytime will really help keep my spirits up. It also has a Planner, so if I need help with things, it will be easy to keep track of everything. It has already proven to be so helpful, and a way of managing keeping everyone informed. I can write my entries as slowly as I need to, which helps when I am having trouble forming my thoughts too!
I wish you all the best with the challenges that lie ahead for you. The biggest thing I have learned is the importance of reaching out - we are all here for whatever questions you have. You are not alone, and together we will all get through this. xoxo
