sandramjMember8 years ago@ann210 I am 3 weeks into radiation and through a private company with private cover and the fees quoted were high also. I explained that we were pensioners and asked what could be done about the fees as it had cost me $7000 out of pocket for the surgery and tests after. I also didn't have to have chemotherapy. My understanding of the radiation for oncology is through R O C Radiation Oncology Centres done at public hospitals and their private trading name is Genesis Cancer Care. I didn't want to use the public hospital but would if it would cost too much through Genesis. I was able to do a deal with the financial manager where the amount is deducted from our account each week for a period of seven weeks at a very minimal cost. They get ALL the medicare rebate back and pay minimal balance for radiation five times a week for six weeks. Ask about arrangements for yourself to suit you. They were very helpful at Southport. Hope this helps. :)
