35 y/o and diagnosed with HER2 positive breast Cancer
Hello,
I am new on this online discussion thread but I find it very encouraging.
Here it goes.. Is anyone out there who is HER2 positive who is the same age range like me? I just got got diagnosed on the 25th of Nov and I just cried my hearts out because I cant believe that its me. But of course cancer doesnt choose right it just does what it does. The thing is I am a nurse by profession and to read my pathology report I cant believe that what I am reading is my own result not someone else which I am used to doing. Then I started blaming myself because I was not proactive on my health management when I went to GP. She told me its nothing and did not even perform a biopsy which I should have insisted. Backtracking I felt the lump 10weeks ago before I was officially diagnosed and everything was pretty full on after that in terms of the treatment. Right now, I am crying again because I am scared. You see I have two kids a 3y/o and a 1y/o. I cry for the future. I really wanted to beat this cancer. I want to build more memories with the bubs because you know they are still to young to remember me if God decided to take me...

I was diagnosed at 35 (in 2018, I'm now 37), with Her2, while I was pregnant with my third child.
(I'm happy to report that said child was born healthy and happy and is doing well).
Try not to blame yourself! I had my lump for weeks and weeks before I got it checked out....just put it down to being pregnant...I had also had a mammogram only a year before, which was all clear. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to these things...and yes, its very scary thinking about all the things you may miss out on with the kids....totally get the crying thing!! I hope wherever you are with your treatment, things are going well for you! - I had my first chemo Thursday 19th so very fresh. So far, just some nausea and a bit tired but nothing terrible.You are too young and busy to be in this nightmare I know, and I feel for you. Still, we are in the right country for the best care and the best statistics for positive outcomes so I feel very reassured. The year ahead may be crappy for us but it will get better xx

- I don’t have your type of bc and I am 47 but with 4 young kids, diagnosed 1st November. A former registered nurse and I know exactly how freaky it is reading your pathology report and knowing that’s your breast and not a patient. I had 8 positive nodes. I know your fear. I don’t need 40 more years. I just hope for 10 so my youngest is 17. But, actually I just want to get thru this week right now 😊.Hang in there, you will feel less terrified as treatment goes on. Your little ones will have you for a long time yet I am sure. Sending much encouragement and hugs xx

Thank you for your reassurance... really made me feel better about my current situation. - Hi @ara, I was diagnosed with HER2+ stage 4 bc at age 40 with a 2 year old and a 4 year old. That was almost 5 years ago. Don’t assume the worst. It is possible to do well for many years, even with mets. Wishing you all the best. X

That is such good news and you gave me hope 😊 Thank you kindly. - I had a her+ cancer but much older than you.
My niece was your age though and she had 10 positive nodes. She was on the herceptin trial and 16 years on she is cancer free. Her babies are all grown. So lovely there is wonderful treatment options for Her2+ cancers now.
