Hi Cora, it's a difficult time for you and the decisions you face can be overwhelming, to say the least, as your own situation is personal and unique and it's not always easy to see the best way forward. Having breast cancer certainly changes your life but it doesn't have to be the one thing that defines it - although that is hard to believe when you face the initial diagnosis. I was first diagnosed at age 31 - I am now 56. Although facing another recurrence, for the most part my last 25 years has involved living, not treatment. After my initial diagnosis I had a daughter and have had an interesting and fulfilling life - not without its challenges, but then most lives offer a mixed bag of experiences. I'm now facing a challenge similar (but different) to you as treatment will hopefully prolong my life but to what extent is unknown, & at what cost. I am choosing the treatment options at this stage because I still have things to do and I am hoping for the best. At some stage down the track my thoughts might change. Hopefully you have a good treatment team that will support your decisions. I wish you well.
