50's and onwards with breast cancer

Not sure of your situation but yes it is a hard road. I was diagnosed in 2020 in lockdown and had surgery, chemo, radium and hormone suppression. More surgery in 2021 and unfortunately for me I was diagnosed with metastatic disease in 2023. It's an up and down ride for me. At the moment I am stable which is great. Mets mean living with uncertainty all the time and terrifying experienced with every scan.&nbsp;Lucky most people diagnosed with breast cancer recover and live normal lives. Thank goodness for that. Early intervention helps most people which is terrific.&nbsp; &nbsp;Counselling helps, exercise helps and eating well, doing things you enjoy helps too. Staying in the present moment is the key to peace of mind.&nbsp;

You have alot going on buy you will get through it. One step at a time and one day at a time. Hopefully you have good support around you.

Ok... so I just had the second biopsy under armpit.... let me say this... I am gonna be truthful.... it bloody hurt... I am in pain. I have an ice pack on the area and have taken painkillers.&nbsp;I have an appointment for Wednesday 29th may to get results, but don't have a time yet. 😢.I have an appointment for Monday 3rd June for the molecular imaging for a nuclear medicine examination at 1245pm.Which is yes very true. I was diagnosed 24th April&nbsp; and got it early with 4 inches growth in left breast.&nbsp;I am still numb and have ups and downs. The breast nurse/surgeon says that the type of cancer I have doesn't react well too chemo or radiation... and breast will have to be removed. I have accepted that and will get reconstruction and new tattoo... 😂🤣. But it's still shock. But cancer is right through my dads side of family.... 😭😢unfortunately&nbsp;

I was 64 when diagnosed &amp; was totally blindsided ... there was NO cancer in our family - we all died from Heart Attacks! (I thought, smugly!)&nbsp; It is a real roller coaster ride - probably with downs than ups, initially .... but it does flatten out eventually.If you go to your post on Newly Diagnosed, there are a LOT of good links there to read or listen to ... the Charlotte Tottman podcasts are just brilliant .... and if you want to read of a top British Breast Cancer Surgeon who was diagnosed (with 2 more recent diagnoses as well) ... she has written a very open &amp; honest Blog .... Dr Liz O'Riordan.&nbsp; She was an extremely fit triathlete &amp; had no kids - and was totally blindsided &amp; only when she received her OWN diagnosis, did she realise that she too, as a surgeon, had not shown enough empathy towards her own patients ... She is very active on Instagram, explaining any new meds that come out &amp; different aspects of BC &amp; its treatment.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;Start on the 'oldest' post to follow her story and work your way forward .....
