On Our Walks
A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow staggers through chemo, or those walks we take after active treatment has finished and we're trying to get our strength and fitness back.
In Melbourne today the weather was sunny, still and mild; perfect for a walk. I have followed my GP to a small town in the Yarra Valley (a good GP is worth the 30 minute drive I reckon), and right outside her surgery is the start of a beautifully laid out walking track. It's 7kms long and I've been keen to explore it. So today I walked halfway along it and back. At over 7kms it was the longest walk I've done since the day before chemo!

In March last year straight after the fires, it rained and flooded at Moruya. Trees and branches were washed down the river and ended up on Shelly Beach. People got creative and built many structures and cubbies on the beach.Sign in to react to this post

A young Melburnian of Polynesian descent once dived off that cliff into the river to raise money for charity - an audience of tens of thousands apparently!Sign in to react to this post
- jennyssMemberDear @Afraser,
Wow. I thought 'Yarra River, that's in the middle of Melbourne'. But I googled and learnt that there are some good walking trails along the windy river. That cliff looks fantastic.
I also realised that your post is the first in 'On our walks' since July last year. I'm sure we've been walking, just not posting photos. I'll have to hunt up some photos.Sign in to react to this post - AfraserMemberAn almost normal day! Walking along the Yarra, coffee at Abbotsford ConventSign in to react to this post

I did a great deal of walking, filled my lungs with sea air, and came home at the end of the day feeling refreshed.Sign in to react to this post
