A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow stagger...
Along the Stuart Highway out to Berry Springs, the wartime airstrips are marked with colourful models of wartime airplanes. Each airstrip is named.

This airstrip is one of the many that my father worked on, leading up to the war, cutting trees and clearing the area for the airstrips and highway. Most of the tree clearing was done by manual labour using axes. No chainsaws. Hard, hard yakka.
