You know you're on chemo when...
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd start a thread to try and find the funny side of chemo, as I truly feel as though I've had my funny bone removed. Usually my sense of humour is what defines me and gets me through the hard parts of life. I don't know how you all feel but I've struggled to find myself in the last 6 weeks since my journey began, and now as I approach my 2nd chemo treatment, I could do with a boost by people who are travelling a similar road to mine.
So I'll start off, and I hope you can share your funny experiences with me....
You know you're on chemo when... you do your hair with a lint remover.

- pennyyMemberHi there everyone, I'm reading a lot about people worrying losing their hair, I did two things that made me not worry at all about losing my hair. 1. Visit a place that turn your own hair into a wig, just a lazy $2 500, as attached to my hair as I was, I wasn't THAT attached to it! 2. I donated my hair to a place that make wigs for children with cancer that perhaps can't afford human hair wigs. I would have liked to have sold it, but been dyed hair, they wouldn't buy it, but happy to accept it for free!! They still charge families for the wigs, but I think half price. It made the losing my hair thing not so bad. I know wasn't really funny, but a little thought for those who are about to start chemo and think about the hair loss thing Good luck on your journeys Penny
Hi Jill Hang in there. I found it really distressing when my hair started falling out. I decided to get a wig whilst I still had some of my own hair there to compare to. I then took the advice of on of the chemo nurses and shaved it all off with the support of some friends. Better to take what control we can if we are able to. Thinking of you. Mel ox

You know you have cancer when you go and get a number 3 but when you come home your hair is still falling out (reminds you of your dogs hair that lays all over the floor till you vacuum it up) but instead yours is all over the vanity basin etc. etc. Now all you want is for it all to fall out (who with half a mind would wish that on themselves) so you don't have to keep look out this mess all over the basin,on your pillow etc etc. I should have gone the full Monty like I wanted to but the hairdresser talked me out of it. I should have known better as she hasn't gone through chemo.
