You know you're on chemo when...
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd start a thread to try and find the funny side of chemo, as I truly feel as though I've had my funny bone removed. Usually my sense of humour is what defines me and gets me through the hard parts of life. I don't know how you all feel but I've struggled to find myself in the last 6 weeks since my journey began, and now as I approach my 2nd chemo treatment, I could do with a boost by people who are travelling a similar road to mine.
So I'll start off, and I hope you can share your funny experiences with me....
You know you're on chemo when... you do your hair with a lint remover.

Do you usually mainly get them at night time? Oh, here's a tip. Wear 100% cotton and a cotton blanket is usually best too.
Yes SOOOOO many having chemo. I think we should come up with our own Chemo Anthem, complete with chemo brain. It could go something like this:
"We chemo chicks lets us rejoice, for we are something and something else...what were we singing again? Ouch my aching joints. Who spewed?"

OMG so right Mel! I'm hating these friggen hot flushes! My Mum bought me a stylish little fan to keep in my handbag so I might end up with RSI of my wrist from constantly fanning my face. And I'm nervous about going out in public because sometimes the only relief is to whip the hat off and fan my stupid bald head. I can't wear my wig because I don't want an itchy hot sweaty head from it. ARGH!
Ok I'm done...
Good luck with it all Jill. Whilst hair loss is not a big issue to some to others it is our own self identity. This disease takes a lot of who we are as our own individual. My hair is starting to grow back as I finished all my treatment including radio 2 weeks ago. I had heard about it coming back curly. So far mine is still straight, a bit grayer but nothing dye did not cover. I fell that the old me is starting to come back as my hair grows. I found that at first I relied on my wig, soon gre tired of that and had my favourite scarf, then grew tired of that and thought I am as I am.
All the best ox

Thank you for your encouraging words much appreciated. Will look at wigs on Monday meantime have some scarfs to stop hair falling everywhere. Will shave it off soon. Been told that it may come back curly but will cross that bridge when I get there. Cheers :)
- MelgMemberYou know you're on chemo when your daughter finds you with your head in the freezer, trying to cool down from a hot flush :)
